I love sleeping in. My natural body clock says that I should go to bed at 2am, and get up at about 11.30am. Unfortunately my job doesn't sync with my body clock, which brings us to the great joy of holidays

I'm so with you on the body clock. My body generally wants 8 hours sleep, but it wants it between 2 am and 10 am, which is not conducive to work. And last night it didn't want to start the sleep cycle until 4.15 am, which is why I'm now reading LJ over my 'morning' coffee.
me too. people are still saying "you'll settle down when you get older" or "you just need to get up early each day and it'll reset", but thankfully less than they used to.
I'm told it makes evolutionary sense - spread out who is going to be alert to dangers in the tribe.
I'm a midnight to 9 am sleeper, so not too traumatic to adjust to "business" hours, but still not natural. I seem to recall reading about studies in Europe to do with "A pattern sleepers" aka morning people and "B pattern sleepers" aka night owl. I'm 11pm to 7am. So mostly ok. I still struggle with the half to one hour shift to that needed for work. Actually being at work and functioning by 7:30am stayed hard for the whole 14yrs I was supposed to do it. I like the fact I can now delay my work start to 9:30 some days. That fits perfectly with my sleep cycle, though it gives me too little evening for my liking.
