We have reached a critical point. Tonight I put the tray onto the toilet. Isis is happy to sit on it, and to scratch at the kitty litter, but hasn't actually done anything yet. Hermes is NOT IMPRESSED. He keeps looking for his kitty tray on the floor. He will stand on the tray on the toilet if I place him there. but that is it.

I hope this works!

I have heard that younger cats find it less scary adapting to using the toilet. Hope Hermes decides it is a manageable thing.

Aren't you worried about them falling in?

At this stage they are using a tray on the toilet, so no chance of them falling in. If they do fall in, they won't drown!

i am following this with probably more excitement than anyone on your list, because you've reminded me that this could possibly solve our big cat problem here!

we moved the cats here because we love them etc. BUT we didn't realise the house was entirely tiled. there is NOWHERE to put a cat door in. so our two boys, who were outdoor cats in australia, now have to be cooped up inside until someone takes them out. they don't know how to use litter. they immediately started toileting in the bath, which i suppose is the best place they could choose if they have to do it somewhere inside, but to be honest when you've got a kid in nappies the last thing you want to do is clean poo out of the bath twice a day. and it SMELLS!

so when you posted the first post about this i got so excited! we're looking into the same brand and everything. GO ISIS AND HERMES, GO!!

We are in a similar situation, in that our previous two cats did 99% of their toileting outside (Freya spent a lot more time inside than Dolorosa, but still went outside to pee/poop). Now we have two inside cats (not safe outside; Hermes is too scaredy to stay outside; Isis can't be outside in bright sunlight) and that makes for a lot of kitty litter!

Anyway, they are doing really well at this stage now-I'm impatient to move to the yellow insert, but J says that I should take it slowly.
