So I thought I would be going with Molly to see Azkaban at around 11 or so for the special employee showing, but they didn't get the movie in.
So I researched, found a midnight showing at Tinseltown, bought some tickets online, and dragged Mike along with me (though I don't think he minded).
I hate driving in Canton. ARR, Canton. The first road we were supposed to turn on to did not have the street marked ANYWHERE.
We had to go to a computer to get our tickets printed, and the machine spit the tickets at us (pretty much literally - the tickets flew out of the machine and flew past us).
And we saw the movie. Wee. This was the first real premiere I ever remember going to... I seen the lines for them, as I exited the theater after already seeing the movie (Star Wars, Episode II, for instance). I was pleased to see quite a few people dressed up (I never got around to making my Malfoy shirt...). It was a very loud crowd.
My general thoughts:
Why the HELL were there so many previews? I know it wasn't just because I was waiting on the edge of my seat for the actual movie. There were a LOT.
+ I really like the way it was filmed. The colors were softer, the angles were edgier. It made the world seem a lot more real - the other two books made the world seem very artifical.
+ This movie was FUNNIER than the first two. I was laughing out loud quite a few times - 'twas Ron, mainly; although the scenes with Draco made me laugh, too. Yeah. I think Rupert Grint and Tom Felton are probably the best actors among the kids. I think they might actually have futures after Harry Potter.
+ The dementors were fucking CREEPY. Nice job.
- The story was very chopped up, and those who did not read the book (like Mike) would be confused on quite a few parts. Hermione's time-turner thing is barely explained, since they barely skimmed over the fact that she was taking more classes than was humanly possible. They also NEVER STRAIGHT-UP TALKED ABOUT THE MARAUDERS. They didn't even explain who Prongs, Padfoot, Wormtail and Moony were, or where the map came from. Bad editing, I suppose.
+ It seems like JKR has been letting the directors drop little hints in the movies about what will happen in future books. This one definitely has some, and I think there's more than a couple. Need DVD now.
Yeah. Too tired now. Oyyy.
