In year 12, I changed schools to this real ghetto shithole and I met this kid, his favorite band was the haunted so I leant him Caliban and heaven shall burn etc etc and he fuckin loved it and started coming to 'hardcore' shows .. but only more metal based ones. Then the shit-talking started about how this kid only ever came out to see the "cool" bands, (doc, pwd, pq) but the truth was he didn't know about hardcore, he loved metal and appreciated music for what it was, he didn't deserve to have a bunch of shitty hardcore kids dissing him for not being at every single show. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I'll just say, it's a good thing that prom queen attracts new kids and that the hardcore scene is expanding musically and demographically. who gives a crap if every single band isn't playing madball ripoffs, i personally thing thats a good thing. anyways, adios ( ... )

I think heaps of dudes (me included) just get disillusioned with the scene from time to time seeing all these new kids at shows, who dont know much about hardcore, but personally, i remember first coming to shows and being a dork, moshing like a dork and not knowing anything / anyone, then progressing from some edge metal core kid who kickboxed, into who i am now (still edge) into more traditional hardcore but still just as passionate about hardcore as i was then (and still just as bad a mosher)... then i think about these new kids, that they just need the odd kid to say hi, encourage them to come to shows, tell them about some awesome bands (as you did for me) & some of them will turn out to be just as passionate about hardcore (in its many forms) as im sure, you, me & a shitload of other kids in Adelaide are.
