Wow, I can't even imagine the frustration. I'm glad you got a break for a few days, and that everything turned out all right in the end.

ARRRRGH indeed. Reminds me a little of my in laws. Father in law is hypertensive and salts his food before he tastes it. Mother in law has developed diabetes and after a lifetime of not eating sweets suddenly NEEDS to have desert after EVERY meal.

Next time, maybe you will be able to find someone to be there or check on them while you're gone. Caregivers need time off as much as anyone else, or maybe more. I'm sorry, that's preachy instead of helpful and I know you're smart enough to think of that. I just feel like you need a little taking care of, too.

Role swapping. Always good for a few blood pressure points.

Glad you had a nice weekend even if your parents were not thinking too clearly. Maybe next time you could get someone to house/parent sit?
