My boss always leaves out the "to be" in sentences. "This needs copied." "This needs faxed." or whatever. I find it very strange.

In parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana that construction is quite common. Usually it's just with "needs (to be) ___ed". For some reason the instructor used it with "wants" too.
