heart falls asleep in my chest

doing the LJ post thing brought over from twitter ♥

so behind with the times and living in my cave that i only recently discovered the ability to check out e-books from my library with just a few clicks. what else have i missed? phones don't need cords anymore? the first thing i checked out was

this, which has instantly reached the tippy top of my forever favorites, a place only a handful of books have ever dared venture. it's a no man's land of depravity up there, all truth be told. this fit right in.

i was happily reading along, fairly certain it was already pre-packaged to fit my sick needs. but the further i delved into it, i quickly realized this author wasn't fucking around and tiptoeing into dirty waters so much as she was submerging herself and drowning the awed and humbled reader (myself) alike. every time i thought she won't actually.., she would and she did.

it also took me an embarrassingly long time to realize this was inspired by a true story, and one that i'd not only heard before, but knew well, and written fic in a previous fandom stemming from this very thing. not until the last chapter or so did it hit me, and when it did - oh. oh. perfect. ♥ i caught a slight whiff of The End of Alice while reading, which is another that sits on the highest shelf in my heart, but that was probably due to the similar subject matter. still a titillating odor.

if anybody's looking for a perverted/sociopathic thing to read, i would recommend this with neon blinky lights. (i still have it checked out, tab open, going back to it constantly to re-read various bits while i wait for the hard copy from amazon to land on my doorstep. filth.)

in other news, i'm seeing soul asylum tomorrow night and i'm just so stoked. and a week from today is my birthday, for which i'm not so stoked.

bonus area: these jared photos are killing me. i can't even look at him. ♥
(ETA: today i also watched the vid where jared says he's "too big to fit", and have hardly thought of anything else since, squirmy jensen aside.)

bookish, jarpad, ramblings
