Right, so...today I'm biting the bullet and breaking things off with Alex in Arizona. Right, so just today, for the first time, I heard Sia playing at work, and I thought she sounded pretty good (granted, I was forced to listen over the sound of customers and milk steaming, so I wasn't able to hear much). Now that I've downloaded her entire album and I can listen to it on my headphones, she isn't doing anything that hasn't been done before by the likes of Lamb, Esthero, Mandalay, or Flunk. Comment on Mandalay - her vibrato fuh-REAKS me out. It sounds like she's having a seizure. But other than that...good stuff!!

Mandalay tends to put me to sleep, most often not in a good way. I was just noticing a similarity to Sia's second album. Sia's first album sounds more like Lamb. I would say listen to Lamb (Lou Barlow also has a weird voice, but I likey) instead of Sia's first album.

GAH! even her use of Prokofiev's "Montagues and Capulets" on her song "Taken for Granted" is like Jem's use of Bach on "They." At least Jem's "sampling" wasn't as blatant.

You know, the album you're referring to isn't the one that I have - I know she has two out, but I could only get the second one on iTunes, which, allegedly, is much better than the first. Although I'd still like to hear the first one...and, OH, thank you for the download suggestions. I've been binging on iTunes lately and I needed more ideas!
