Toronto Comic Arts Festival and also large amounts of shame.

I was thinking about gracing everyone with another tear-shedding, woe-is-me, utterly emo entry about how my life consists of plateaus and valleys or something like that, but instead, I thought I would say this.

I am going to the Toronto Comic Arts Festival tomorrow! In the words of the website linked, it "exists to promote the breadth and ( Read more... )

i like how all these comics conventions are all 4000 miles away from where i live, except one in bristol which is undoubtedly filled with goddamn doctor who bullshit (doctor who is manna from heaven for nerds in britain, i hate it)

The Doctor Who reboot (or whatever you want to call it) with Christopher Eccleston was pretty good, actually!

Also, since you are such an old and bitter man, would you like a Scott Pilgrim postcard? I'll gladly mail one to you.

scott pilgrim is good! if you sent a postcard i surely would treasure it for all of eternity... do you have my address? it's pretty public after that one time tyrannous was threatening to send me poison pen letters and then the log was posted on ircman and bencomic, but in case you do not;

Peter Saltfleet
57 North Kelsey Road
Caistor, Lincolnshire
LN7 6QB UK

that's my actual, real address

as for doctor who, i dunno, it's just passed me by, and its terrible special effects and constant reference in british popular culture (daleks lol) do little more than annoy the hell out of me... and i pretty much hate tv these days... tom baker is kind of a badass, though

Unfortunately, I discovered that the Scott Pilgrim postcard is not actually a postcard, you can't write an address and put a stamp on it or anything, which is dumb. It is more like a card with advertisement on it. But in the spirit of goodwill, I will put one in an envelope and mail it to you, probably tomorrow!

I missed the poison pen letter threats! (is the log still around)

I view the overall quality of tv as somewhat superior to current movies, these days, so I was biased to like Doctor Who, but it was pretty fun and unpretentious. The special effects weren't super, but I find it a lot easier to overlook subpar special effects after enduring people who say things like TRANSFORMERSSDFSDF WAS SO AWESOME!!!! and actually mean it, that it was a cinematic masterpiece.
