The author's attempt at romance was overblown and unrealistic. It was a demonstration of lust rather than a realistic romance between two sane individuals. Though, admittedly, I felt the slightest sense of sympathy towards Juliet.
The ending was, as is to be expected, a culmination of the ridiculousness, though the fates of Romeo and, to a slightly lesser extent, Juliet were perhaps deserved considering their ludicrous behavior.
The only saving graces were the flow and beauty of the prose, certainly not the plot nor the characters.

Yes, Juliet did not deserve her fate as much as Romeo. However, she still allowed herself to be ruled by her emotions, even if not to the same extent as Romeo. Besides, she picked her fate herself.

Um...I liked Juliet. She seemed nice and pretty smart. And I also liked Mercutio, I guess. And Romeo, except I wish he hadn't killed himself at the end, since it made Juliet have to.

Mercutio was quite interesting as well. And Juliet does seem like she would be a nice person.
How would you have ended the story?
*plans to get a story with a better ending next time*
