Thank you, Hill. I erased and completely reworked that part, and fortunately the paper didn't wax up like I'd feared. I wish these portraits didn't take so dang long to do, though!
How long did it take you? I'd love to watch you do one sometime; see the whole process. Watching other artists work is always so inspiring and educational.
I'm not sure. 15 hours? I worked on it for about two weeks every other evening or so. I'd love to do progression shots - but 75% of my time is spent erasing/redoing/fixing things, so it would be more about how to fix errors than how to actually do it right the first time. There are a few artists I watch on DA who post progression pictures, and I agree - it's just fascinating.
