I don't think I've ever been able to grasp that "God loves me". I think I've believed it theoretically, but in reality I've more often viewed God as a disapproving Father figure. I'm glad we can relate to each others' spiritual journeys.

I think the parent-child metaphor is probably the best one for understanding God's love, but since I don't have any kids, it's much easier for me to understand the dog owner metaphor =) I'm sure everyone could find something in their lives to relate God's love to (even if they don't like dogs =)
