My mum is out at a party while I'm sat on my bed eating reheated tuna pasta bake. What the...?! Admittedly I've only just finished at Tesco, and it *is* a work party, but nonetheless - social life, where for art thou ( Read more... )

Agamemnon sounds amazing! And yay, they're putting The Bacchae on at a theatre near me in November :D Hopefully the Classics Society will be having a field trip to see it!

Hoorah for awkward managerial crushes!
I'm so happy I've found people at uni who will breezily discuss which lecturer they'd sleep with and why. It makes me feel better about wanting to cuddle all my professors! <3

JEALOUS JEALOUS. The Bacchae is awesome! I sometimes wish the murders would take place on stage - I mean, who *doesn't* want to see Pentheus being torn apart by raging Maenads? I would love to see it on stage, just because it's so different - a sort of tragicomedy massively before its time and, indeed, before that genre even existed. :) If they don't, you should suggest it, I bet they'd welcome any trip prompts!

Haha, oh yeah, everyone gets at least one awkward crush on their lecturer. I had one in my first year and one which was much less extreme in my final year - one hot lady and one hot guy, I like to keep it balanced. I challenge you to outfreak me though - in first year me and my friend Jenny wrote an entire talk show complete with a themetune for Simon Flynn - it was called Simon Says, if you wanted to know. :D

Yeah, I might be getting involved with the Classics and Ancient History society committee actually? I don't know, because I have some committee experience, but it literally only consisted of nodding and saying "yeah, exactly" at meetings... But I like the CLAHsoc people, and I'd like to get involved, I'm just a bit shy for it maybe? Idk sorry for this little rant.

Lol your little lecturer theme-tune sounds hilarious! In my Classics department modules I have one super-awesome lady lecturer (the one with Hark! A Vagrant on her wall), one man who's kind of away with the fairies and yet very knowledgeable about Ancient Greece, and one guy who is just totally adorable. I want to pinch his cheeks while he tells me things about the Odyssey. A couple of my friends find him seriously sexy, which I can't quite see as much. Now I tell you who is seriously sexy -- the woman who does one of the Odyssey seminars. I don't have her for my seminar, but she comes to lectures, and she is just beautiful <3
