i really hate the long distance thing. im not entirely sure what im gonna do if ryan cant stay here past december. hes a different person on the phone and not one that i necessarily enjoy. i mean he has his good times, but overall he hates the phone and doesnt hide it very well. im surprised that our relationship didnt die over the summer where we ( Read more... )

i understand what you're going through. i've been through my fair share of long distance relationships. in fact, all of my relationships through college, excluding 2, were long distance. even with marshall, though, we had our stint with long-distance: i was in london for 4 months. it wasn't easy, let me tell you. we did most of our chatting through email and AIM, but we made sure to have at least one phone call a week, usually on the weekends at a time when both of us were available, giving room for time difference and all. i sometimes felt like it became a chore, but my frustration of not being able to be with him, brought that on. i felt like if i kept my distance, i.e. being cold and aloof, the feelings wouldn't be so bad. doesn't really work, though. it was difficult for both of us, but after a while, instead of looking back and missing the things about each other, we focused on the things we look forward to seeing when we got to see each other again. it takes time. i was crying almost every single time marshall and i talked on ( ... )
