i walked out of the house this morning to find my bike chain cut through and my bike gone. it was the old rusty aspen, not my cherry cola huffy, and that does lessen the blow but i find that in these situation i'm far less affected by the material loss than i am by the reminder that awful people lurk outside my door

That really sucks. I agree, the worst thing about situations like this is rarely the material loss...being faced with how crappy humans can be is never fun.

I'm glad you still have the good bike at least.
