Lately I've been hearing a lot of people say, "Is ____ gonna have to choke a bitch?" I wondered, in my nerdy way, where this phrase had come from, because I'd not heard it until about two weeks ago.

So I googled it.

Turns out, the number one connection to the phrase is Wayne Brady.

I think it's from that Chappelle's Show where he guest-stars as the horrible, fucked up version of Wayne Brady.

Although admittedly, I do not watch Chappelle's Show, except for John Mayer. Woo for the John Mayer.

Yea i saw that episode it was show Wayne Brady as this really evil person, who pimps out people, a drugie etc. it was really funny and they showed clips later how he really didn't want to say the line. That guy is just to nice. :P

I cannot fathom how someone who can play with blues guitar gods like Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy gets stuck making MTV friendly love songs. Especially with his voice. Love the man's talent, but not his work. :(

I've seen some of the stuff he did on Chappelle, however, and it's damn funny. :D

I'm generally a fan, although admittedly I usually shun the whole "Your Body Is A Wonderland" kind of song, for some of his live stuff, or, at the moment I really dig "Come Back To Bed" but whatever. I do think it is perplexing that he does have such magic fingers and influential friends but writes soft pop/blues for consumption of nutty teenaged girls. Also, I dislike that he has a tattoo of the number 77 on his chest. For. Check this. THE YEAR HE WAS BORN. because he will forget. obviously.

But, I do tend to agree. With provisions. I like to believe that I like him for some other reason than I am a nutty, teenaged girl, like the genius one-episode of "John Mayer Has a TV Show" or listening to his live stuff and hear him explain "Look guys...I'm a meglomaniac. Can I get some more me, please?" But probably, deep, deep, deep inside, I like to pretend he is singing to me. So sad.
