My Twenty-Fourth book for ljbookbingo is Curtain by Agatha Christie for the Out of Your Comfort Zone Square found here.

The legendary detective saves his best for last as he races to apprehend a five-time killer before the final curtain descends in Curtain: Poirot’s Last Case. ~Amazon Book Description

I chose this book for the out of your comfort zone square because it is definitely out of my comfort zone.  I love Agatha Christie and I really love Hercule Poirot BUT I do not read major character death stories if I can help it.  I knew how this story ended and I never wanted to say goodbye to one of my favorite detectives.  It is a well written book, although probably not the strongest Poirot mystery but that may be on purpose considering how our detective fares in it. Hastings pov really sells the story for me. I feel so sorry for him and how alone he feels at the end. I have to admit I teared up.  I had to go read something lighthearted and sweet afterwards.

My Twenty-Fifth book for ljbookbingo is One of the Crazy Ones by starandrea for the Fanfic Over 100k Words Square found here.

Summary: A kidnapping case turns personal when someone takes exception to the LAPD's involvement. Or maybe it's John and Dorian they don't like. John doesn't care what their problem is, he just wishes they'd stop trying to kill him--until he doesn't, because having an active threat against his life makes Dorian his 24/7 bodyguard.

I always seem to love tv shows that are canceled too soon.  This show lasted one season and truly deserved at least a half a dozen.  But at least we have fanfic.  I enjoyed this story.  The author does a great job with both Dorian and John and their interactions.  They also don't shy away from the various issues that come with Dorian's status as an a.i. in a society that is full of people who view him as lesser.  Dorian essentially has no rights of his own.  John is very aware that one misstep on his part or on Dorian's part means Dorian's memory gets erased and he is deactivated.  This fic doesn't end happily ever after because of all of these issues but it does end on a hopeful note.  Also starandrea wrote a sequel that I will probably read when I have more time.
