A good many people, especially working in pencil, lavish great attention to the details of textures and tones, but neglect the solid drawing underpinnings of a piece, yours has a solid woman sitting on a rounded horse, a horse whose eyes are visible through real holes in a mask, not pasted on, but with a real sense of the distance between the layers of the mask and the animal's face beneath it.
Is the face a self portrait? So glad this helped you win your fight. May the prognosis continue well!
