This is the bestest...making happy tear-eyes (becos my heart is so full of joy). Wow, wish you were here so I could just hug your neck and sigh so prettily with the abundance of emotion this particular chapter provides for me. Wowie zowie 'Batman' (circa Adam West nonsensical exclamation), you've written this jus'rat honorat!

Also, love how Jack is using Walton for his advantage. Of course he would. *g*
This story should be an official tie-in novel, you know. This at least would've been written by an author who participates in this fandom and really knows what she's writing about. I'm not going against Crispin's "Price of Freedom", I haven't even read it yet - but I'm very sure that it won't be better than this. :) And this is no idle praise - I really really love this fic. Can't wait to see where this is going! :)

Of course, Jack uses everybody for his advantage. A captive Navy captain would be a dreadful thing to waste.
I haven't read Crispin's "Price of Freedom" either, but I've always enjoyed her writing, so I expect it will be good. However, I'm honoured that you think this could stand with her work. Thank you again.

Oh, it's good to hear that you like Crispin's writing. I haven't read anything by her so far, so I'm interested to see how I'll like her novel. But I think that your fanfic doesn't have to hide from published novels at all. I've read enough in my life to know that at least. :)

Ana is also glorious in this chapter- I love how your characterize her, and I love watching how her interactions shift with Jack, Gibbs and the crew. I especially loved Walton's description of how her and Jack work together to command the Pearl: "Between the two of them, Walton realized, a balance had been struck, one ideally suited for the freedom-loving pirates who yet must work together under discipline to survive the harsh element of the sea and to serve the intricate creature that was their ship and their salvation." Perfect. I can just picture her stalking on crutches.
Also, a lovely, and ominous ending. I am worried about the upcoming confrontation with the Dauntless. After all that work I'm heartbroken at the thought of ( ... )

Anamaria has been another surprise for me in this story. She's such a fun combination of powerful and vulnerable, vicious and loving--so many contradictions. You're right that she changes depending on who she's dealing with--in her way she has as many masks as Jack. I like to think she is part of the reason why Jack manages this pirate crew better than he did the first one that mutinied.
As for the upcoming clash of the Titans, I'll have to check everybody's sleeves at the door. LOL. Cliffhangers R Us.

I just love the way you write Jack here. So true to character, and so many hidden depths. Absolutely lovely.
Sorry it took me so long, but I forgot -- but then it gave me something to do to pass the time at a very boring day of work so yay!
