I'm delighted you enjoyed this. I have a particular fondness for mermaid fins.

Oooh! How beautiful! Details and the overall composition! How did you know that I love lionfishes? *g* And aren't Jack's hair just made for water? *dreams happily*

Thank you, that's lovely response to the prompt! *hug*

*hugs back* Yay! I'm so happy you like your Jack and Mermaid picture. I love lionfishes, too. They're so spectacular, and I've never liked drawing ordinary fish mermaids. I contemplated whether to have Jack out of the water or not, but this picture kept intruding. I always liked the underwater pictures in CotBP. So you get the HAIR (tm) in the water. Thank you so much for the lovely feedback.

Ahhh God. I have fallen in love with this piece of artwork. I'm considering marriage, in fact. *stares, stares, drools*

utterly beautiful! everything about it reveals the careful planning. his anatomy is spot on--i'm in love with his right ankle--the subtle modeling of chest and arms, the way the breeches define and indicate the three dimensional body inside without the stylized exaggeration of comics, the way you use changed direction of pencil stroke to both give visual interest to the large areas of water and to suggest currents. the flaring dark hair of both of them are nicely spotted in the composition and the way you have zeroed the focus into their so gently twined fingers is a shrewdly dramatic choice ( ... )

*bouncity* Hi Ladymouse! I'm so glad you like Jack and his Siren. I've been stuck in meetings for the past two days, hence ART. I've always liked mermaids based on real tropical fish and fancy fins, so I ended up drawing a swirly complicated mermaid for this, which necessitated drawing Jack under water, too. When I've snorkeled, I always have the sensation of flying, because it's totally unlike swimming. So I made my mermaid upside down. Which did work out for composition--it's always nice to have a commenter that notices :D All your descriptions of the story this makes you think of make me want to write the story. Like I have time for another project! It was fun to do another piece like this. Thank you so much for the lovely feedback.

The mermaid is just incredibly cool, and Jack looks just like Jack :-) Love the details in patterns on her body and tail and the fins and as others have said, great composition!

Thank you so much for the lovely comments. I'm glad you like my lionfish mermaid. She was a lot of fun. And it's always a relief when my Jack without references bears a nodding resemblance to him.
