There's music heard in the Pearl spreading her wings even before you write about music. A very 'movie-like' and visual piece, breathtaking and enchanting.

Jack's approach to gods is... well, it's so very Jack. *g* Coming to think of it now, there's a silent conclusion hovering in the air: he prays, endears, and deals with all gods he meets or hears about (heh, sort like the ancient 'si deus si dea', he would surely liked the idea), but only one black-sailed goddess has his worship and Jack himself. I love it in him.
(And Norrington's conclusion about deities' help for Jack was adorable. *g*)

I like very much Jip's reasoning on saving lives, and how it clashes with the law's judgement. Speaking of what, this chapter brings also the perfectly hit Norrington's core (as I see his core at least), the struggle between duty and conscience.

And first and foremost, it was so great joy to see the new chapter! Sadly, I have reached the last line and there's no more for today... I hope so much it won't be really the last line, and there will ( ... )

It's lovely to hear from you. I'm looking forward to being a little more active on lj during the holidays. For instance, I just sent off Chapter 30 of Crossing for beta reading tonight. And while I was giving my students an exam today, the characters started talking in my head again, so I've got a good outline of Chapter 31, too. *bounce* It's always nice when the Sadistical Whirlybird Muse wants to come out and play. I do hope to finish "The Great Kidnap Caper" someday. It will be nice to write some straight comedy for a change. But I have sworn to finish Crossing first before Ladymouse takes out the Muse with a rocket launcher.

It's always a relief to discover that these words I've gone over so many times I can scarcely hear their music anymore do still resonate with readers. Thank you for telling me so.

I like your analysis of Jack's relationships with divinity. I believe I've called the Pearl the god of his idolatry before. You're certainly right that Jack only worships her ( ... )

What a great news! I'm waiting for next gems from you. What belphegor1982 said, your stuff it's sort of a safe trademark. I always take care to have more time and undisturbed mind for reading, too.

I know what you mean about own words re-read so many times that they lose any sound and meaning. This particular scene, sails unfurling, commands flying, the ship gaining speed, really has music background, and timing and general feeling of a movie scene, yet before any music is mentioned.

In general, Jack's relationship with the Pearl is one of his basic features, in my eyes, some very deep part of his soul. I'm never tired with this.

Thank you for the treasures you bring!

Thanks to my leaving the next chapter at the most evil cliffhanger I've yet managed, I'm striving to have Ch. 32 ready to go before I post Ch. 31. Though 32 may still be dangling off a branch. #badpirate

I'm really pleased the music I hoped was there was actually there. I always have an edit pass where I am telling myself that I must make the language pretty.

Jack and the Pearl have always been two parts of the same soul for me. :D

You're so welcome. And thank you.

Oh my GOD, so good! This was so good! (It was killing me to keep putting off reading this chapter, but I wanted to do so on a night when I wasn't too bone-tired to appreciate it.)

Everything about this was gorgeous: the standoff, the resolution, the celebration -- and Jack's metaphysical lovemaking with the Pearl after their escape was wonderful.

Samuels and Groves are just marvelous here. You had me choking over Jip's fate for a while, though, I confess.

My two favorite quotes of the chapter:
“They say that certain ships, for the right man, will do anything but speak. I believe the Black Pearl is such a ship, and Jack Sparrow is such a man.”

“I am well aware of the length and the breadth and the depth of insertion of the legal stick up that young man’s . . . ahem.”

A fitting resolution to an amazing story, madame. Now, I look forward eagerly to the epilogue.

Hands down, the best story ever written in this fandom.

Thank you, thank you for interrupting my grading with such a lovely comment. I'm glad you finally got a not-so-tired night. I am supposed to be dragging my way through literary analysis papers. Bleargh! #istooaword

Since I'd already written the Pearl's run past the Dauntless once in this story, I was worried that I'd never manage to top that. I still don't think I have, but it's good to know the standoff and final escape work in their own way. As for the celebration, you know my Anamaria, my fire-eyed maid--never happy unless she's blowing something up :D

Jack's metaphysical lovemaking with the PearlThat's a great way to describe it. I've certainly put a lot of that in this story. There is something about that man and his ship that makes me wax all poetical ( ... )

Okay, I've been sick as a dog, all coughing lungs out and miserable, missed a week of school and now I'm buried with ketchuping... So I've run POTC back to back to back starting at dark tonight on third run of it and I've reread this chapter. Does that indicate some kind of obsession you suppose?

Yeah, well, long as I can haul it to work tomorrow and get something done...just wanted to say ummmmummmm good story..yep indeedy. Sleep well, little miss and dream piratey--have you figured out yet on which side of the family you're related to Jack Sparrow? I know we're all spirit children of Gibbs... God, the scene when Twigg is throttling Jack through the bars. Mr. Depp is a tiny man when compared to those individuals.
