Extra thoughts

I mentioned this in tumblr how this showed how far behind Ryuga is as compared to Kouga. Or more like, how Kuriyama Wataru's acting was sorely lacking... as compared to Konishi Ryousei. In many aspects. Well, continuing the thoughts from there~

To quote Ohashi-san from Byakuya's behind the scene aka GARO TV, Konitan had a gift where he can fully immerse himself in acting/fighting against imaginary things. Also reason why I LOVE his acting. And that was something... considering that comment was made years ago. I'll blame it to Konitan's tenimyu days as well as his other theater stuff. It made him to be such a great toku actor. Which was why I don't really mind it if more myu actors being scouted into toku.

And do notice as well, Aguri's character was even more convincing than Ryuga's. No need to remind that Aguri's actor used to be in tenimyu as well.

Which is why, you can't really say that Kouga-supporters being extremely biased against Ryuga was just because of petty loyalty thing. You can really see the difference in acting ability. And no, I'm not being biased because Konitan been taking this role for a long time. I'm comparing Wataru's debut with Konitan's debut as Kouga.

Note that Garo was Konitan's first attempt to doing a tokusatsu series. As compared to Fujita Rei (555), Hijii Mika (Blade, some other series), Sato Yasue (Ultraman Nexus etc), Hiroyuki Watanabe, Yamamoto Shouma (Kiva) amongst others. Kouga's character bore resemblance to his tenimyu character Ibu Shinji in that he's very solemn and serious and stiff. Even then, throughout the series Konitan managed to draw out Kouga's character and endear himself into the hearts of fans who're also quite new to the new concept of a much more mature tokusatsu series.

Compare that to Wataru, who... even till the end of YamiMono did not manage to endear himself to the viewers and make them feel involved in his quest to protect people as Garo. (Okay... earlier on I did noticed there were some people appearing like they actually LIKE Ryuga, but truthfully I can't understand HOW that can happen) To me, Ryuga had always been seen as this whimpy kid who happened to be entrusted with Garo. He was different than Kouga in very obvious way yet... not sure if it's the writing or also Wataru's acting; Ryuga's character came off to be very fake. As if all of his conviction, and carefreeness was just a facade an acting. You don't feel that from Kouga. With Kouga... you really see him as the anti-social big boy... who somehow mellowed down against Kaoru. With Ryuga.... you just can't relate to him.

In this, I wonder if I should also have the directors accounted as to not do their proper work to direct the new cast and have them bring out the characters alive. Because if Konitan and the others could do it, why can't the new cast? Which was also reason why I do feel like wanting to rebuke the people who used to lash at me about 'not giving Ryuga a chance'. It was really the opposite. I DID gave Ryuga a chance, he just botched it. Typical. Makes me wonder if the 23rd Nov event would have the YamiMono cast out again. And if they do... would they improve, or just remained the same?

Only time will tell~
