Beautiful Mind & Good Doctor
Last week, BM had finished its run... and I still had lingering thoughts about the series. Also, I can't help making a parrallel of this drama with another.. that wa of similar theme. Which is Good Doctor. Well... not gonna to talk about the ratings, cos sometimes nowadays I had to question the taste of the Korean Audience on kdramas. Had to say this drama was one of the few underrated dramas of this year, alongside Moorim that also suffered because of low ratings.
That aside, I guess its been a while. Since a series about another doctor with mental disabilities was made. Regardless, I like the parallel between the two... or more like, the conrast between the two series. Since both are a direct opposite of each other. Like both Sion and Yeongo suffered a certain mental disability; either by birth, illness and/or psychological environments. But while Sion leaned more towards the passive side, Yeongo leaned towards the aggressive side. Regardless, despite their disabilities... both Sion and Yeongo were quite a genius in their medical field.
It's actually quite interesting, watching Beautiful Mind... while also recalling Good Doctor. And seeing how in both series, Sion and Yeongo both had a love interest that helped them to be able to fit in with the normal people (Yunseo and Jinseong) as well as a pseudo father figure (Director Choi and Director Lee). Not forgetting, the main nurse character that were quite supporting to both Sion and Yeongo (Nurse Jo and Nurse Jang). Both also at first not being accepted by their direct colleagues but then as time passed, were soon accepted by those same colleagues after seeing their abilities.
It's really a great drama, both Good Doctor and Beautiful Mind. Though I wished people would have appreciate the latter a bit more.
