I'll post some more personal things about the trip later for friends. For now, I wanted to get a con report written up before I forget anything. I tend to be long winded so I tried to split it into parts in case people want to skip ahead.
I got to Fukuoka on the 16th and stayed at a hotel near Hakata station. There were probably other fans there around the same time, but since none of them had goods yet I couldn't tell. I'm actually a member of the fanclub, but I didn't hit for tickets this year so I ended up getting them online from a really nice seller. With all the hyped up threats from JE I was a little worried about being stopped at the door (since both my friend and I are very obviously not Japanese), so the seller offered to go in with me (she had another set of tickets because her friend hit). So I called her Thursday night and set up a meet up time.
Since all of the reports from Kokuritsu said the goods line was crazy, I got up early and tried to get to the dome by 7:30. That didn't really work out since the friggin Fukuoka Dome yuki bus DIDN'T STOP AT FUKUOKA DOME -_-. Luckily two other fans were on the same bus and we wandered around until we found the dome together. We ended up getting there right at 8:30, when the goods stand opened. The line went on forever, but it actually moved pretty fast. I promised some friends I'd buy things for them, so I ended up stopping at just about every line in the goods area to get what they wanted and what I wanted. Still, I was finished by 10 or 10:30.
I had a ton of time after that until the doors opened (4:00pm), so after shopping a bit I headed back to the hotel to meet my friend that was coming up from Oita. By then the hotel lobby was FULL of Arashi fans. After dropping off the majority of the goods I bought we headed back to the dome and went through the goods line again because my friend decided she wanted a poster. That was at about 2:30ish, and we hardly had to wait in line more than 5 minutes to get to the main goods lines.
At 4:00pm we met up with the girl who sold us the tickets. It turned out there was no need to worry, they didn't even blink at us when we went through the line.
We ended up with pretty good seats, about the same area as I was in last year at Nagoya. We were to the left of the stage, maybe 20ish rows back in the stands. We had no trouble seeing the members faces when they came around, and we had a pretty good view of the main stage.
1. Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi
After a video montage of Arashi's ten years, the hall went silent and you could hear the boys singing Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi accapella. They slowly emerged hanging from a huge balloon and the music kicked in as they crossed the arena to the moving stage at the opposite end.
2. Lucky Man
3. Kaze no Mukou e
4. We Can Make it!
5. Crazy Moon -Kimi wa Muteki-
6. PIKA☆NCHI (Aiba Solo)
This is such an awesome choice for Aiba, I really love when he does more rockish solos. The arrangement was changed to be a little more tribal, which made it easier for him to do some pretty cool dancing. First Juniors came out banging on drums, the Aiba appeared center stage. He tried to get the crowd to sing the first few lines by pausing and pointing to the left for a line, then the right for another, but people largely didn't get it and it was pretty silent ^^;; People joined in for the dou yatte kimi ni tsutaereba ii lines after that though.
7. HORIZON
8. DANGAN-LINER
9. Allergy
10. Kokoro Chirari
During this whole string of old songs they had old performances up on the screen next to the video of them performing now. In one of the old performances of Allergy they were just little heads on puppet bodies, which they all looked pretty pissed about. It was funny looking at young, pissed off Arashi next to them having so much fun on stage being silly now xD
11. CARNIVAL NIGHT part 2
12. Kotoba Yori Taisetsu na Mono (Nino solo)
No mistakes from Nino this time. His performance was pretty much flawless, no missed notes or strained voice at all. He looked like he was having a lot of fun, and the crowd got really into it. There wasn't much moving around like he did when he played guitar during Jun's solo in the past, but it worked really well with the song. It kind of reminded me of the atmosphere of Ryo's solos at K8 concerts but with....better singing xD
13. Everything
They did a slighty more orchestral version of this song, which was really pretty.
14. Hitomi no Naka no Galaxy
Once again, Ohmiya moments xD Nino had the audience sing the second half of his solo, which was really moving. No one missed a beat, we all joined right in and the crowd singing was really loud. I'm a sucker for those moments, especially during ballads xD Ohno wandered over to the platform Nino was on for their duet line, and as they were singing Nino went to put his arm around Ohno's shoulder, but stopped with his hand next to Ohno's face and started wiggling his fingers near Ohno's ear before suddenly clamping his hand down over Ohno's eyes xD
15. Aozora Pedal
No big Sho solo! Kind of a surprise, but it's probably for the better ^^;;
16. Typhoon Generation
17. Kumori Nochi, Kaisei
This is the first time I've EVER heard Ohno sing a solo song live. Every DVD performance I've watched and concert I've been to, he's lip synched, probably because his solos are usually so dance intensive. He did the whole thing live, and it was absolutely awesome. His voice actually gets stronger the more difficult the notes.
18. a Day in Our Life
19. Hadashi no Mirai
20. Oh Yeah!
21. Step and Go
22. Beautiful days
MC
The MC was really long this time. Sho announced that they arrived in Fukuoka the night before (Thursday) which drew a big "Eeehhh" from the crowd. Nino was like "Is it that surprising? We take the train like everyone else." They wanted to have Hakata ramen again, so they all went out to eat together. Apparently it was the first time in a long time that they've gone out to eat just the 5 of them (as in without staff). Sho then said that Aiba has a really weird way of ordering. He asked for negi ramen, with lots of negi. When the ramen came it was just overflowing with negi (scallions), and Aiba didn't even eat them xD
Ohno said he also ordered negi ramen (after some confusion - Nino had to remind him that they ordered the same thing). He commented that there was a lot of negi in it, and Nino teased him - "Well yeah, it's negi ramen, if there were only a few negi then it would be weird." Ohno said the next day when he sang nothing but negi came out (he probably means he had onion breath) xD
They then decided they were talking too much about food so they should change the subject, but they had a hard time doing it. They ended up talking about what else they did that night. They had finished rehearsals around 11pm, and went back to Ohno's room to drink/eat/talk until 4am. They apparently talked about a lot of stuff (since they were there for hours and all), but Arashi's past, present, and future came up a lot. Then of course the usual "Arashi de yokatta" (I'm glad I ended up in Arashi) talk came up too. They were drinking wine the whole time, and apparently Aiba was a little too overzealous about it. He kept filling up everyone's wine glasses before they were even empty. Jun mentioned that he was really surprised Ohno had ordered all this cheese. Ohno said it was because cheese goes with wine - but he didn't get to eat much of it, Aiba ate it all xD
They asked Ohno if he talked much during their long night in his room, but he said he mostly was too busy drinking wine xD When Nino asked him what part of their talk he remembered the most, Ohno said that what really left an impression on him was that Sho kept taking off his clothes. Sho said it was because of the heat, but they all teased him for taking off his clothes casually while he was in the middle of talking. Nino mentioned that he even started putting them back on when it got cold xD At some point, he ended up sitting on a glass and breaking it too. Aiba apparently was in the bathroom so long he missed this entirely.
I can't remember where this came up (...hopefully I'm not thinking of the last HnA episode), but at some point it came out that Sho and Aiba have the same bag. They both showed up at the airport with it and suddenly realized they had the same one. Jun went up to them and said "Kimochi warui" (gross) lmao xD
They eventually got off the topic of the night in Ohno's room and started talking about how moving it was to see all of the red lights when they came out for the first song. This year's penlights lit up two different ways - if you flip the switch halfway up it alternates from red to blue. If you flip it up all the way, it stays red. It seems most people bought them this year (instead of bringing old ones or the generic JE one) because it really was a sea of red. They started asking us to all turn them on at once, and they made the staff turn off the lights completely so they could admire it. Nino commented that it looked like Grave of the Fireflies. Ohno asked us to twirl them around so we all did, then he goes "Oooh look they're mad!" xD People kept twirling them around so he had to remember to tell us to stop. Then they asked us to turn them off, so we started to do that. Someone commented that they were going out gradually, and Aiba goes "Ohh, who will be the last one left?" And suddenly we all turned them back on xD Nino said Aiba is totally KY (kuuki yomenai, i.e. he misreads situations). They asked us to try turning them out again, but Aiba got all excited and screamed "Who will be the last one left?" and they all went on again. xD
At some point Sho dissapeared to get ready for his solo and they started doing drama bansen. Again Nino made fun of Aiba and said this may be his first and last big drama, so everyone should watch. Nino forgot the date of his own drama again and the audience had to shout it at him while he made faces xD Jun announced his drama as well, but was sketchy about the details. He mentioned that his character is originally from Fukuoka, so he tried out some Fukuoka-ben by reciting one of his lines. He was having trouble remembering it and when he finished it was so abrupt he had to let us know it was over xD Then Nino reminded Ohno he had an announcement too. "Oh Yeah, I'm also doing a drama!" lmao xD Ohno got all confused trying to tell us when it aired, and Nino had to step in again to be Ohno's interpreter.
Finally they realized they'd been going on a long time and should let Sho do his solo, so they cut themselves off and left the stage.
23. Tomadoinagara
Not my favorite choice of song for Sho, since there's no rap in it at all and I'm still mad at whoever told Sho to start yelling out notes he couldn't hit instead of singing pretty like he did during Yume de ii Kara. BUT he did pretty well with it, and they again rearranged it to have more of a hip hop sound. I remember reading a report from Kokuritsu that said the audience didn't understand what they were supposed to do when he let them sing, but this time we had no problems and joined right in.
24. WISH
I love this arrangement and want it on a CD ;_; Jun rocked this. The dance was awesome, and he seemed to be channeling Higashi at points. They had really pretty water effects going the whole time, it was really cool. Please give Jun stuff like this more often JE.
25. Boku ga Boku no Subete
26. Attack it!
I LOVE this song live. I hope they start adding it every year, because the whole crowd got SUPER moriagaru'd and I imagin it'll only be more awesome when we all know the lyrics better xD
27. truth
The fire effects for this were really cool. At first they just had firey images up on the screen and I was thinking that's all they were going to do, but then fire started not only coming up from the stage, but out diagonally toward the crowd.
28. Ashita no Kioku
The slideshow of baby pictures was really adorable. There were lots that I'd never seen before, and lots that proved Jun has always been ~Fabulous~, Nino has always been a goof, and Ohno has always had his "buuuh" face <3
29. 10 year medley
- A-RA-SHI
- SUNRISE Nippon
- Kimi no Tame ni Boku ga Iru
- Jidai
- Nice na Kokoroiki
- PIKA☆NCHI
- Tomadoinagara
- Kotoba Yori Taisetsu na Mono
- Hero
- Sakura Sake
- WISH
- Kitto Daijoubu
- Love so sweet
- Happiness
- Believe
A-RA-SHI seemed shorter than people were describing it at Kokuritsu. I don't think they ever got all together to poke at Ohno while he sang, but my eyes kept shifting back and forth from the stage to the monitor because they were at the far end. They ended up splitting up befor Kimi no Tame so that Aiba and Nino changed first and sang most of that song, then the other three changed and joined in by Jidai. The songs that had already been done as solos were understandably shorter within the medley, and numbers like Sakura Sake that the crowd got really into were longer.
Mini MC
All of the members gave speeches about their 10 year anniversary and how they're grateful to the fans, the staff, and for all the opportunities they've had. Jun's was the longest, but Aiba got a bit rambly at the end of his and was trying to say something about how he didn't know what they'd do in the future but he was looking forward to it. Nino went right after him and commented that Aiba must not have been listening, since they talked about the future the night before xD
30. 5x10
Another awesome song live, and again I think it'll be even better once everyone knows the lyrics better. Though I doubt they'll perform it much after this tour since it's pretty specific to the anniversary.
Encore
31. PIKA☆☆NCHI DOUBLE
32. Ashita ni Mukatte
33. Dekiru Dake
34. One Love
Double Encore
35. Fight Song
36. Gori Muchuu
I was a little worried we wouldn't have a double encore. The call for the first one was pretty weak. I think most people assume there'll be one, so they just sit down and wait. But the call for the second one was loud, and the songs were perfect to get everyone all pumped up all over again (since the previous encore ended on a ballad).
They started thanking the audience and getting ready to leave again, and Aiba started going on for a while again. We all interrupted him and started yelling Arashi, Arashi, Arashi again and he was like "WAIT-" but Nino cut him off and said "I think they're trying to say they want to hear another song." So Aiba was like okay I'll do one more. I mean we all will. Sho made fun of him saying "Well duh, it'd be weird if we ended it with just you" and Aiba joked back saying the last song would be Hello Goodbye.
Triple Encore
37. season
After the last song they all said their goodbyes again and Jun asked that we take care going home.
- Ohno's voice was generally higher pitched than normal and kind of quiet. Probably from that drinking session until 4am xD But what really amazes me about him is that when it comes time to hit a difficult note, or belt out a vocalization, he suddenly is on top of his game and sounds awesome.
- The entire show was live which is pretty rare. Usually there's at least a few songs lipsynched. Old songs especially - you can usually hear teen!Arashi voices and then only Sho's rap will be live. This time it was very clear they were actually singing.
- At some point (one of the encores), Jun got really excited and climbed up onto part of the stands to hang among the fans. Then he got down and ran all inbetween the arena seats, letting people touch him and revelling in it xD
- I've got to hand it to them, despite staying up drinking until 4am you really couldn't tell it in their performance aside from Ohno's voice being a little high and sometimes the vocals being quiet. They were just as excited and having as much fun as ever.
- Nino was such a tease to our area of the arena. Jun and Aiba came over the most, but Nino kept facing the arena for half the time he was on our side. Ohno waved at us a lot when he was there, but he didn't come around to our end as much either.
- At some point my friend got tired of not getting members to look our way, so she decided to make a funny face and see what happened xD She put on this enormous crazy grin and Jun ended up looking at her with this look on his face like "Well. I'm not sure what to do with that." Finally he gave her a semi-confused smile before moving on xD
Aaand that's all I can think of at the moment. I'll update with some pictures of the arena before the show and such when I get home, I don't have access to my own computer to download them at the moment.
