It's about damn time you had a car again. But now you'll actually have to work at creating excuses for not hanging out with anyone in town. :)

Yeah yeah... my excuses are always legit!

Now that I have a car and the racing thing has ended, they are fewer and further between is all. ;)

Wait. The racing thing has ended? When did that happen? What are you doing for a living?

I should have been more clear... the race mechanic thing has ended. The rider retired! Partially because of age and partially because racing is hella expensive and this economy is hitting the business pretty hard.

So I still work for the racing company, I just don't go to the track 25 weekends a year anymore.

Thank God. You know I can't respect a man who can't drive a stick.

It's an '02 Civic Si ... It's fun as SHIT to drive! I love it... when I'm not stalling it out like a dumbass, that is.

You'll get a hang of the stick shift... it's the only way to drive. However, with the stop and go nightmare that is 75 during rush hour, try not to wear out your clutch :D

No kidding! Driving in traffic is definitely a different experience with a stick.

i'm sure this is one of the worst things to do, but if i'm on a particularly steep hill OR some 'bag is on my ass and i'm in my SWEET ASS HOT CAR OF GERMAN AND ITALIAN LOVE, i pull up the emergency brake, put it in gear when the light changes, engage the bite point, and then ease off the emergency brake.

that said, you really don't roll back as much as you think, mere inches. it's just such a weird, out-of-control feeling, though, to be rolling backwards when you want to go forwards.

and, congrats. love the squishy bean.

Hell yeah... that is a good tip. Pops told me the same thing.

I was actually trying to do that the day I got the car... Piedmont and Peachtree... I was hanging a right onto Peachtree and it's basically a 25 or 30 degree incline. When I tried to go, I squealed the front tires and scared the shit out of a group of people on the corner waiting to cross the street. It was awesome. I was so proud. I mean embarrassed.

the trick is, to let off the e-brake just as the gear is engaging. otherwise, yeah. you peel out like a douche.

i found practicing in a sloopy empty lot was great. even a small sloop. anything that lets you roll back is good.
