Pre-series. Dean desperately needs a part for the Impala, and finds a scrap yard that’s got it. Unfortunately, the guy who runs it is a huge asshole and wants to charge ten times what it’s actually worth. Dean decides to hop the fence that night instead, and get the five-finger discount. Unfortunately, the place is guarded by three really vicious dogs, and Dean gets decently bit up before he makes it out (author’s choice if he snags the part before the dogs attack him). He just barely manages to make it back to the motel, where John (and possibly Sam, depending on if he's left for Stanford) stitch and bandage him up and reassure him that the Impala (ie Dean) will be a-okay.
