He gives a feral smile at the way Sam twitches ever so slightly at the mention of them.

“You've still got those memories of what he did. Figures you might remember some of his thoughts too. The clarity that comes without a soul to burden you. Just how efficient you can be when you have a target clearly in sight and can use all means necessary to achieve your objective. You weren't a mindless killing machine but then neither am I.”

“Uh huh, you realise this the part where Dean would be rolling his eyes, right?”

“I'm not in your brother I am your brother. Demons are just human souls twisted and tortured yada yada yada. Although I think Crowley was pretty sure the Mark would speed it all along so we could skip the tortured part. Now twisted?” He grins, “by the way, how you healing up ( ... )

I was so excited to see this filled!

I just really, really love the idea of Dean feeling like he is finally able to embrace all of those darker qualities that have been within him all along, and I like the way your fic addresses not only Hell and Purgatory, but that Dean also brings up Sam's soullessness as an argument in his favor.

My favorite part, though, is this:

Sam approaches holding his gaze impassively, “You almost sound scared.”

I officially love the idea of demon!Dean being scared of one thing and one thing only - being brought back into humanity. Death isn't a huge deal (he's died before), nor is torture (he endured it plenty), but having to become burdened all over again? His worst nightmare. And man, do I love Sam being able to recognize that, even if he is the one who is going to make Dean realize that fear.

I also like this part:

Sam's succeeded and Dean wishes to that non existent god that he hadn't. Because I like to think that even if Dean would ultimately be glad that he isn't hurting people anymore, that he ( ... )
