On the e-way this morning, the car in front of me had a bumper sticker that said "God is to big to fit into one religion" I liked the quote, i thought it was rather profound and very well thought out. I think Bumper stickers make no sense, conceptually. Bumpers are all plastic now, so bumper stickers have outlive their one legitimate application: covering rust spots.

I think my religion is most right. Other religions are varying degrees of right. I don't, however, need additional religions to "fit God into". The metaphyical premise is fundamentally flawed.

Q: What's the big difference between a religion and a cult? steelcoat June 1 2005, 19:14:34 UTC
The problem with religion is that it prescribes a basis for worship of God under the premise that dissenters are wrong.

At its worst, this leads to all the faults of fundamentalism like the murder of abortion doctors, the subjugation of women, rejection of scientific thought, and prevtion of human progress through the supression of social evolution.

Each person must determine for himself which religion is most right, unfortunately, religions often encourage their followers to cross the line and bring their views to those who reject them, oftentimes intrusively.

The premise that there exists a vengeful God who demands his followers worship in a prescribed way, lest they be cast into the bowels of hell is utterly ridiculous. By the very definition of God as commonly used in most religions, this cannot be the case.

Either God exists irrespective of religion, and spirituality is sacrosanct, or there is no God.

This is exactly why the bumper sticker is wrong, see?

But, you're saying religions all do this thing, but Tao, Shinto, and Buddhism are huge religions that do not.

You're just pissed about the way the Jesuits converted Japan.
