Some might call me a sucker,
but if thats the case then i love being a sucker. Every year, the day after thanksgiving, i slowly start getting sucked into the hustle and bustle of christmas. This year, it wasnt slow at all. I dont know if its because i am now living with the man i have loved for over 12 years or if its the 4 inchs of snow that fell in michigan over thanksgiving, but something got to me FAST this year.
On saturday dave and I went to the mall to shop. We didnt really buy much, but it was a GREAT! I almost didnt wanna leave. People everywhere, christmas songs blarring over the speakers, lights, and SANTA CLAUSE. I was at first disappointed by the fact that he wasnt wearing a hat (personally the santa hat is one of the greatest parts of the outfit) but then i realized he had a REAL santa beard. Now i am not talking the half assed, started growing it in september beard, i am talking the REAL DEAL. This man has a year round santa beard and that rocks.
So after the mall we went to walmart. Dave and I hate walmart. But this trip wasnt so bad. I walked out feeling kinda fuzzy inside, even though we had searched all over GA for an advent wreath and not only could we not find one, but nobody even knew what it was! So anyways, it was the christmas card lady that made me not care i spent almost an hour in walmart. Dave and I had bought lots of stuff, but we also wanted a bookshelf that weighed a ton, so we checked out and dave ran the other stuff to the car while i waited inside. I told him i would meet him in the bookshelf isle. On the way i found a christmas card stand. A pack of 32 cards/envelopes cost 2$. It was the stupidly walmart cheap price that made me stop. I dropped all the cards on the floor while trying to open the box to take a look at them. As i bent down to pick up the cards, i decided do just sit on the floor and look through them. There was a 40something ish lady standing next to me grumbly waiting in the 23 min walmart checkout line. She looked down at me slightly confused and i smiled. She asked what i was looking at. I explained the cards to her, how there was 32 of them, 2 of each design. She asked if they were religious and i said yes. She then pulled up a spot on the walmart floor next to me and grabbed a box. We spent a good ten minutes reading each other the different cards and scripture that was on the bottom of each one. We both decided to buy a box. As i was walking away i turned around and wished her a merry christmas. She smiled, and gave me a hug. I love christmas, i still hate walmart, but that trip was not so bad.
