Earth - the Cell. Mankind - the Disease.

Lately a lot of the things I’ve been thinking about have been “what ifs” and possibilities, but I think I really believe this. Although consequently, what I’m about to say makes all the aforementioned “things” make perfect sense. I will state the idea in parts and explain as I go along. Just try to keep an open mind ( Read more... )

I don't really buy the whole part about us destroying Earth beyond repair. Sure we're fucking it up to a degree but this planet is ridiculously resilient and will be around and full of life long after we either... A)Die off... or... B)Launch ourselves like spores onto another hospitable planet. -Cory

You certainly have a point. However not until recent history have we been eating up the earth's natural resources and spitting them back into the atmosphere in an extremely harmful form. And at an unbelievably quick pace. There's also the threat of chemical and/or nuclear warfare. The past has proven what you said to be correct, but I think circumstances are such as they have never been before, and therefore a different result is not unlikely. But I do think you have a valid point.

hey man, I say that you not worry about what the purpose of humankind is. cuz your just one human, and humans are a plauge and destroy the earth and all that, but the destroying is what we call technology, and technology is just the humans nature of wanting to know more, thats a single human beings purpose, to know more. as for god Most all of peoples actions and beliefs are influenced by fear...(fear of hell, fear of death, fear of doing wrong, ect.)and i guess everyone wants to veiw there life as a test to see if they are good enough at the end of it all to get into some paradise. and alot of people use religion as something to hide behind and say oh god will forgive me for whatever. so were to good to just rot and be gone when we die, no were so good we just magicly live on forever cuz someone loves us cuz were fucking perfect. but the fact of the matter is we are intelagent animals, and just like any other animal we have symetrical bodys, 10 falangies, 4 limbs, same basic internal organs, same tissue structures, same internal ( ... )

To be honest, it is something that I have been thinking about less and less lately. I actually thought this entry up and wrote it down about 3 weeks ago, I just typed it up and posted it when I was in the mood. I think it's a topic that requires a lot of thought and it's good to have a well thought out, practical opinion on. But I realize I can never know for sure, so letting the question consume my life would be foolish. And it's not like I'm going to kill myself because I think there's no purpose to the universe, not only because it would be doubly foolish, but also because as Woody Allen once said "I'd hate to blow my brains out and then read in the papers that they found something up there ( ... )
