At what price do you think you'd be up for buying one?

From what I've seen it's cool but I have a feeling it's sort of... open-ended. Like they went half-way with what they did but didn't take it as far as it could go. I'm not sure why and since I haven't had a chance to actually play with it I obviously can't say for certain. That was just the impression I got. For instance, if it's touch-sensitive have they included biometrics? A fingerprint security lock would be simple and easy. No password to remember or key combination to press. It's a phone so does it take dictation in place of text messages? Is there an optional way to make respond to vocal cues instead of touch? It does have a receptive microphone so why not? Just things like this that I'd like to see in my wireless phone that I have a feeling they didn't fully explore.

Well, like all Apple products, it appeals to the "ooh shiny!" part of my brain. It looks very user friendly, visually appealing, multi-purpose and Mac-like (I so adore my Mac)...so my technogadget lust is all over it. I haven't actually seen one up close and personal, but I've often fantasized about having a device that could do all the things that the iPhone says it can do, and more easily than some other technological devices. A lot of realtors were very into Blackberries and other devices of that ilk, but I couldn't really get into them. For whatever reasons, they weren't appealing to me. I saw them, I used them and my overall reaction to them was "Eh. I don't see what the fuss is about. They kinda suck."
The iPhone though? Totally seized me by the imagination and shook me like a rag doll.
If they're as good as the Apple folks have said they're gonna be, I'll get one even if I have to donate plasma to afford it.

The iphone looks neat, but very overpriced - and my main complaint about most cellular devices is the sheer cost associated with the actual *useful* functions, like data transfer. I honestly don't care about phone service, since I can get phones everywhere, all the time. What I want from a device like the iPhone is *network* access. Internet. Email. Remote terminal. All that good stuff - and while the iPhone can do it (a Nintendo DS can do it, for that matter), the problem is the extreme expense of that kind of function in North America. Nobody uses a sane data plan rate the way that European providers do.

How much do you think the iPhone should cost?

Good question. I'll start with the simple statement that I already *have* a portable digital camera, a music player that's much better than the iPhone, and a cellphone with a cheaper plan than anything Cingular offers ( ... )

I might be more excited if a) it wasn't so damn expensive b) it wasn't Cingular-only and c) I didn't already have a very nice iPod.

$300 max, with a two-year contract I might be willing to pay $200 for the smaller model.
