30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Eight
Day 8 - 10 songs that inspire you for lolita.
The 'inspiration' for lolita these have for me are see-sawing between lyrics and the atmosphere that the music videos portray. There's actually little (trying to think if there's really any? Maybe just a little?) lolita fashion in these.
(The "Also recommended" songs aren't so much for inspiration, just other songs by the artists that I think are good.)
1. Chara - Crazy For You
Lyrics - If you want to know the translation of what she's singing.
Video - Youtube doesn't allow people to embed videos of this one. O.o?
Chara's voice is slightly odd with a huskiness to it that I've never heard from other japanese pop singers. But, this video with it's childlike backgrounds and stop motion definitely make me go 'loli!'

2. Fonogenico - Rhythm
Lyrics - I can't actually find an english translation for it online. O.o!!
I love the swing/jazz in this, and adore the singers fashion style. Would love to try and incorporate it a little into loli.

3. Maaya Sakamoto - Universe
Lyrics - For those who want it translated
Maaya's beautiful voice gets to me pretty much no matter what. (Listening to her is actually what got me into Jpop.) Add that to this animated version of the music video and loli inspiration all over.

4. Thirsty Merc - Undivided Love
There isn't actually a music video for this one, so the best I could link to was one with wiping images. This song doesn't look very loli (especially not when you look at the band!) but the lyrics are what get to me with the absolute reassurance that you can be you and loved.

5. Emilie Simon - Flowers
The music video is very Nightmare Before Christmas and the happy/creepy atmosphere is what draws me in. (But it was a close call between this one and Desert.)

6. MC Melody Doll - Throw it in the Bag
Because it never fails to crack me up.
Also recommended: n/a
7. Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust
It's not so much the lyrics of this one as the look that gets me. The broken down carnival with the underlying feeling of wrong is beautiful.
Also recommended: ... haven't listened to much else they've done yet.
8. Sick Puppies - Maybe
For this one, it's the lyrics. Much like Thirsty Mercs song listed above, this one gets me through it's encouragement to be yourself and not give up.

9. Within Temptation - Memories
It's the singers voice and atmosphere of the video for this song. Everything's so absolutely beautiful.
Also recommended: Angels, See Who I Am, Forsaken.
10. Olivia - A Little Pain

Love love love the imagery used in the video clip for this gorgeous song.
