30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty Eight

Just about to zoom off for MAIcon, so posting this a little early.  Wee!

Day 28 - A picture of the perfect lolita location.

I was having trouble with this, I don’t know if I can even find a picture of it, but...

My perfect lolita location would be bushland Australia in an 1800’s sandstone manor filled with decadent furniture and artfully concealed modern conveniences during a summer with clear blue skies and golden afternoons, perfect for sitting outside on the veranda chatting. Grass burnt yellow by the sun swaying in afternoon breezes and cool green bushland surrounds with running creeks trickling by. Crickets chirping, magpies warbling and the shush-shush-shush of the wind through the gum leaves.

Honestly it sounds like a bit of a death trap for bushfires and snakes, but it’s actually based on some memories of my favourite days on the farm where I grew up. I lived with my family in a cottage, very definitely not a manor, but the old Pass House was close enough to walk to and Mum and I visited the land owner’s wife in the “new” Pass House (which was still quite old, just bigger and fancier) enough for me to have silly recollections of it.

One vivid memory is of being a little naughty and looking around the new Pass House after mum had specifically told me not to and finding a disused, victorian styled little girls room full of old porcelain dolls. For all of ten minutes it was the most fantastic place I’d ever discovered with the afternoon light falling through the dusty window panes onto the faded rugs. The air felt thicker and sounds from elsewhere around the house were muffled. I felt like I’d stepped into another world... and then I started to feel scared of all the silent dolls upon their shelves staring at me and had to run downstairs to where people were again.

This is a view the old Pass House from the front. I remember playing around here when it didn’t have tenants. Out the back were old sandstone stables full of old farming equipment and a maze of yards all butting up against each other.
