I answered more and more question to push "Writer" higher in my rank, but it never ascended over position 20 :) - I think my test was a sensible one and thought that writer is not a very realistic career for me :).
I answered more questions too, but it pushed 'historian' down to No.4 - and 'animator' up to No.1! I sheepishly retreated :D
I think tests like that are good at identify general interests as well as careers. I enjoy music and drawing - which it identified - but I'm not proficient enough to have a career in this areas. Writing's obviously an interest for you, but not good as a main career. I could be argued, though, that most writers write alongside another career to put food on the table.
I'm looking at paganism in early medieval France. There are so many hints in the sources about what indigenous beliefs might have existed, as well as traces of pagan belief which were absorbed into Christian ritual. The idea of a whole religion simply disappearing under the onslaught of Christianity just seems sort of eerie to me. I'm intrigued by the idea of recovering native beliefs. It's gives you a funny chill when you identify something that seems authentically 'pagan'. The Anglo Saxon elf charms - though outside my area - are one of the best examples of that. There's just something weird about them
( ... )
Nothing published yet. The written sources do have hints, but you have to sift through layers of bias and misunderstanding to get at what the truth might have been. Some things - the idea of worshipping at special trees and streams, for example - pop up to often to be easily discounted. Some stuff is just lost and can only be guessed at.
