Squeeee!!! You like The Lark Ascending!!! My PhD (before I quit!) was on Vaughan Williams. Pic of him as a young man on my icon. I am also the regional Irish Chairperson of the Ralph Vaughan Williams Society. Isn't The Lark Ascending beautiful? Do you know any of his other works? Incidentally, his widow (second wife), Ursula VW, died during the week, aged 96.
I LOVE ballet. Big Tchaikovsky fan. Love Stravinsky and Prokofiev too. I'm with you on the chick-flick front! Hmmm ... which one was the lie? The Carry On films, perhaps?
I love The Lark Ascending. I just think it is a gorgeous, evocative piece of music. I don't really know any other Vaugan Williams works. I had a read of some information on him, though. I didn't know that he had composed ballets too. Have you ever seen these performed?
I love ballet too. Have you ever gone to classes? Nothing beats getting those pointe shoes!
Nope, the Carry On films weren't the lie. Sadly, I find lines like, "infamy, infamy - they've all got it in for me!" to be hilarious. I don't like the later ones, though.
The lie? That I like to play tennis. I don't like to play it, and hate when itis on over the summer. It goes on forever! Why can't they just play best of three?
I'll download that from i-Tunes - i've got a lot of work to do and will need something nice to lister to at the same time. Thanks :)
I love the idea of actually writing something fictional, but I don't have the ability. It would probably be something academic. And very short. ;)
I've always like the idea of the Alps since I read Heidi - which probably isn't the most realistic look at the region ;). Thanks for the offer of a guided tour :)
Ah. Coconut ice isn't actually coconut ice cream, but a kind of sweet. It's very easy to make if you want to give it a bash:
Great recipe! (And manageable for an dessert-idiot like me) I will try it out :) Thank you!
Heidi is unfortunately not that far away from the truth. (more banks and less herdsmen), but our elderly people are mostly as grumpy as the Alp-Oehi. Although we eat more cow-milk-cheese then goat-cheese.
To be honest: I miss the Alps horribly abroad and I would never be able to live in a flat country, I feel very uneasy in the lowlands (skyscrapers are a good substitute).

If you get a chance, listen to RVW's Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis ... lovely!
