My passport came in the mail yesterday. My application for a certificate of acceptance which I need in order to obtain a study permit is in the mail. I am told that I should obtain this certificate in two weeks, and then I can pick up my study permit at the "port of entry ( Read more... )

That's pretty awesome! I found a new roommate and she happens to go to Concordia as well. She's doing her Masters in Electrical Engineering. I like Côte-des-Neiges. It's very Anglo and I find it a better place for newbies at French. I think you'll really enjoy Montreal. I advise you, if you haven't already, to invest in a good pair of snow shoes. The criteria should be: water-proof, extraordinarily warm, and good grip. Don't be stupid and compromise for fashion, it just isn't worth it ( ... )

Thanks for the tips. I've lived in New Hampshire every winter of my life, and the last few years, I'll admit I've been obstinate in compromising function for fashion in my everyday winter shoes. We'll see if Montreal's winter can change my prospective.

I have become pretty familiar with the transportation system. There is a bus that serves my commuting needs 24/7, which is good. I'm still not completely sure where to go about getting the metro ID though. I have orientation stuff next week, so hopefully that will answer everything I need.

Classes start for me on the 4th. When are you coming back up?
