Well. Not what I was expecting, and Sally didn't get punished (maybe write a sequel to this where John yells at her?) But satisfying none the less, because she realizes that she knew Sherlock Holmes all along, and that she shouldn't have doubted him.

Wonderful job!

Thank you for your review, even if this wasn't what you expected.

There are a lot of (well-written) Sally-being-punished fics out there. For me, I think I'm in the minority that nothing will happen (officially) to Sally; she did her job as a police officer, and, unfortunately, played into Jim's plans.

That being said, I can see her feeling guilt about what happened. I can also see other police officers labelling her as a cop who drove someone else to suicide, and so on. This is definitely going to haunt her, and I think that's a far more interesting process to explore than just having her demoted or yelled at by others. Not that those two options couldn't also happen. =)

Excellent, just excellent. I'm also hoping that Sally suffers a bit for her sins, but mostly am pulling for her to solve the kidnapping.

I quite liked her until TRF ...

Thank you! I am not a case-fic writer myself, but that is a very intriguing idea, especially if Sally decides to enlist John's help for one reason or another. (Epic breakdown, anyone?)

I'm still trying to make sense of why she went over Lestrade's head in TRF and set off that massive chain of events. I like her character, flaws and all, but... I'm giving Thompson the "where did that come from?" glance with her characterization.

Love this! Sally's not stupid, but her dislike of Sherlock tends to blind her a lot, doesn't it?

Slight nitpick: It's 'bollocks', not 'bullocks'. :)

Thank you! I wasn't sure what kind of reaction I'd get from my readers, so I'm happy to hear you love it.

I think Sherlock manages to get on Sally's nerves without even trying (and she doesn't know why). Pair that with his lack of social skills and the way he reacts to murders with glee... In real life, I think we'd call the cops on Sherlock ourselves. ^.^"

Also, thanks for the heads-up. :) Goodness knows that Word spellcheck comes up with the oddest suggestions.

Well, they all do fear him, and with good reason. I'd prolly loathe a real-life Sherlock myself!

I think we all need good fics, to help us get over TRF. And to ease the wait until Series 3.
Thanks for writing this; I've never been as frustrated with Sally as I was during this ep.

You're welcome. Spellcheck won't catch 'bullocks', as it IS a word!

It's going to be a long wait until Season 3. On one hand, it's great for us to read and write and speculate without being made AU by canon. On the other... fandom will weep if it takes three years. (I am joking. I hope.)

When Sally picked up those photographs, I knew that she was about to be Soo Lin-ed by Thompson... which is a pity, because her first scene in the episode made me think that the Yard was just fondly taking the piss with Sherlock...

Ah! My spellcheck is also tempermental and old. It once tried to tell me that "education" was spelled "edcation" on a job application.

Very well done. Sally isn't thick, but she does sometimes leap to conclusions and it's good to see her have to think again.

Thank you. :)

Sally is definitely a smart police officer. If she wasn't, I don't see Lestrade keeping her on his team. She definitely does leap to conclusions, and there's history between her and Sherlock that the audience hasn't been told. Plus, with Sherlock's personality (pre-John), I can't fault her for being wary of a man who treats murders like birthday gifts....

Thank you for this excellent story. I empathize with Sally, and it's nice to see her get to be both competent and human in a fic.

Thank you for reviewing!

If Sally wasn't competent, I don't see Lestrade keeping her on his team. Being flawed is part of the human condition, and that's what makes characters like Sally so interesting. I also like how willing she is to stand up against the star of the show (Sherlock) and say, "... you know, treating murders like they're Christmas gifts? That's not okay..."
