APPEARANCE: [Picture] Mami is a fifteen-year-old girl with a small and petite frame, standing at 161 cm. She has yellow eyes and blond hair that falls just beneath her shoulders, which is usually worn in curly pigtails that are held by two flower clips on either side of her head, softening her square face shape. She is also usually wearing her Mitakihara Middle School uniform, which consists of a long-sleeved blouse, a red bow tied around the collar, a black plaid skirt, and dark-colored stockings.

PERSONALITY & HOUSE REQUESTS:When Mami Tomoe is first introduced in the series, she immediately emits an aura of grace, of sophistication, of someone who is wiser than her years, and that is the first thing people will notice about her. She exhibits a kind of quiet confidence and an almost constantly calm and composed demeanor, one typical of someone who knows and is very confident of her abilities -- or in Kyuubey's words, a "veteran". Whether she's fighting a witch, studying in school, or accommodating guests in her apartment, that unnaturally calm and composed demeanor almost always stays. She conducts herself with a graceful maturity and is very polite, even when she's talking to potential enemies (she lets Homura off after the other injured Kyuubey, telling her in a kind-sounding voice that she wouldn't kill her this time, all with a smile on her face). At such a young age, she can keep a tight rein on her emotions, not easily giving in to bursts of anger like Kyouko or Sayaka, and a warm, confident smile seems to be always playing on her lips even when she's fighting against Witches.

Mami takes on the role of a mentor and an older sister figure in the series. She cares deeply for Madoka and Sayaka, always coming into their aid whenever they need her and constantly assuring them not to worry because she'll keep them safe. Mami has strong maternal instincts, an innate urge to care, to nurture, to protect. Because she's a veteran, she does her best to show Madoka and Sayaka the ways of being a Puella Magi, guiding them and telling them that being a magical girl is a tough job, one that needs considerate and careful thought. She's also not above playfully teasing the girls as she did with Sayaka, and making them feel welcome with her. She's mature and carries her responsibilities as a magical girl very well, and is thoughtful and good-mannered to the people she surrounds herself with.

"It's rare to find other Puella Magi like Mami". And despite not understanding human values, Kyuubey's words do ring true, because Mami still holds onto her a traditionally selfless perspective on the role of a magical girl, despite all the pain and all the darkness that comes with being one. She risks her life fighting Witches and Familiars, not just to earn Grief Seeds for herself, but so she can protect those around her. As Sayaka said, Mami is an "ally of justice" -- one who fights to save people, no matter how self-righteous it may be, no matter if she receives a reward or even just a thanks or not. Unlike Kyouko, Mami does not allow familiars to grow into full Witches just so she can earn a Grief Seed for herself, because she considers it wrong and unacceptable, as the Familiars can still go off and kill people. She cares about people and the lives she has saved, as seen when she was able to rescue a woman who was about to commit suicide, holding the woman in her arms and telling her that everything was going to be okay. She doesn't believe in Kyouko's ideals, to fight only for herself, but instead Mami willingly risks her life, unhesitatingly rushing into battle and giving everything she's got to protect the town of Mitakihara and it's citizens.

However, even after all her positive traits, Mami does not consider herself someone to emulate. When Madoka tells Mami that she looks up to the older, that she wants to be just like Mami who is able to help those around her and be proud of herself because of that, Mami's warm and cheerful exterior fades. She directly tells Madoka that she's not the kind of person who should be admired. Because behind all her charm, behind all her sister act, behind all her willpower to go out and save people, lies a deceptive person hiding behind a warm smile. Mami is filled with a crippling loneliness, and perhaps that is why she rushes to fight Witches and rescue those who need her help, because she doesn't want to be left alone with only herself. She puts up a facade of confidence, pretending to be someone cool and charming, but behind all that is a little girl who's scared, who's insecure, who cries alone at night because she has no one to talk to about her problems. She has this strong desire to help and to be needed, because without that, all she has is her lonely existence and her self-loathe, slowly killing her on the inside. Because Mami, just like any other normal human girl her age, wants to need, to be loved, and to be accepted -- but her parents dying a tragic accident leaving her to survive by herself, not having any close relatives, and not seeing eye to eye with the other Puella Magi because of their different ideals, have almost hardened her and thus she's not able to trust easily, keeping a safe distance between herself and others. Rejection is painful for Mami, and she is the type who keeps grudges against people who break the bonds they share with her. More than that, she keeps all her negative feelings bottled up inside her... which, more often than not, only ends up hurting her more and making things difficult for her.

And though Mami is a truly nice girl -- even she too can break. In one timeline, when she and the other Puella Magi find out that without their Soul Gems they're basically dead, and that once their Soul Gems turn completely black and corrupted, they in turn, will become Witches themselves, Mami's calm exterior cracks and she breaks down. She cries and tells them that it had all been for no use and they should all just die, and then she shoots Kyouko's Soul Gem and was about to shoot Homura before Madoka destroys Mami's first. At a young age Mami has been exposed to the tragedy that comes with being a magical girl, has witnessed deaths, suicides, and horrifying happenings first-hand, and though she can handle all of these very well for a girl at her age, this along with the worries she only keeps to herself can sometimes be too difficult to bear. After all, she is only human, vulnerable, weak, and emotionally fragile, even when she tries to keep it all hidden.

But the thing about Mami is that, even when she has become in part bitter and cynical, her kindness, her selfless ideals, her willpower to protect is something that is truly genuine and that is what she will constantly hold onto, as both a magical girl and an average fifteen-year-old girl.

Thus, I believe that Mami fits most with Gryffindor. She's brave and chivalrous, always willing to drop everything and rush to protect, save, and nurture those who need her help, even when she gets nothing in return. She's selfless and responsible, and handles herself with such maturity that's unlike other normal kids her age. But along with the glamour that comes with the House, there is also a certain type of darkness, and that is what Mami also is -- outside, kind, cool, and charming, but holding inside her a darkness that eats away at her, making her an insecure mess. As a back-up House, I would say Hufflepuff, because Mami is indeed hard-working, one who finishes what she has started and is dedicated to achieving her goals and keeping with her responsibilities. She's also patient and tolerant to the people she surrounds herself with, and will remain loyal once she actually finds someone whose intentions towards her are genuine, someone she can trust and feel accepted.
COMMUTER DETAILS: Untapped! Mami would be the kind to protect the school with whatever power she has.

POSITION: Student

ABILITIES & POWERS:Mami gained her powers and abilities by making a contract with Kyuubey, an otherworldly creature who can make any one wish come true in exchange for the girls giving up their lives to become a Puella Magi. Because Mami's wish had something to do with "connecting to life", she was given a power to "tie" and "combine" things together. She uses magical ribbons to link and tie things up, and she can also use these to capture her targets and restrain them. She also has some sort of healing power, as seen when she was able to heal Kyuubey's injuries after he was saved by Madoka and Sayaka.

Another special ability of hers is being able to produce an infinite number of guns and muskets out of thin air and sometimes even strange parts of her clothes. Mami is an incredibly skilled shooter; she has near perfect accuracy (scoring a perfect hit on Charlotte's small body at a distance), extremely quick draw (clearly shown when battling Charlotte's minions), along with the potency of her magical bullets (killing Kyoko with a single shot) and the sheer raw power of her signature Tiro Finale finishing maneuver. However, one weakness of this ability is that Mami's guns can only shoot one bullet, and this is why when she fights she surrounds herself with a huge number of guns, throwing away each one after their bullet is used and materializing new guns again.

I believe Mami's abilities would translate particularly well when it comes to Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, stemming from her driving force to save and protect. Her power with magical ribbons to tie and combine things together would make her have an affinity for the Incarcerous spell, a spell that conjures ropes which then bind the victim. However, it would perhaps be a little difficult for her to cast a Patronus Charm as she would have to conjure an incarnation of her innermost positive feelings, but what she holds deep inside her are feelings of weakness and insecurity, and it would most likely be difficult for her to settle on one truly joyful event of her life.

When it comes to Mami's abilities to summon and wield guns, this will make her have an affinity for the following spells: Confringo (Blasting Curse) and Oppugno. A Confringo curse causes anything that the spell meets to explode in flames, and that is similar to Mami's finishing maneuver, Tiro Finale. The sheer power of Mami's Tiro Finale causes whatever she's aiming at to immediately burst into flames, turn into ashes and die, and though the Confringo curse may not be as strong as it, it is a spell that is definitely similar to the Tiro Finale in function. And Oppugno is a spell that causes conjured objects to attack. It is seen in the series that Mami can summon and produce guns and muskets out of thin air to fight and attack offensively; in the Hogwarts-verse, though she may not be able to summon guns, she would still be able to conjure and summon objects to attack with this spell.
WAND: Cypress with Unicorn hair Core, 10½ inches, sturdy but flexible, and good for charmwork and defensive magic.

Cypress wands are associated with nobility, and they find their soul mates among the brave, the bold and the self-sacrificing -- and that is, in essence, very much Mami. As stated above, Mami holds onto her selfless ideals as a magical girl, brave and always willing to risk her life to protect people while trying to defeat the Witches and Familiars who possess great danger, whether or not it comes with fame or glory. And it wouldn't be any different when it comes to Hogwarts or the Wizarding World, as Mami would unhesitatingly step out in the front lines to battle against the Dark Arts, the Death Eaters, and those who pose threat to the students. The Unicorn Hair Core is also the most difficult to turn into the Dark Arts, and that can similarly be seen in Mami, when she chose to die instead when she found out that her Soul Gem could turn into a Grief Seed, thus making her a Witch. It is also the most faithful of wands, and Mami would need that, especially since she's constantly struggling with her loneliness. Her wand is also sturdy but flexible, which is just like Mami, who easily adapts to her surroundings and at the same time is resolute and determined in all her ways.

WRITING SAMPLESFIRST PERSON:[The handwriting that suddenly appears is in neat and perfect cursive.]

I heard some people were having trouble with their Potions homework. If anyone wants to, I can offer you a hand since I've finished my work. [As well as the Charms Homework and the reading for History of Magic, but Mami won't get into that. She's not one to brag after all.] I'm at the library right now, so if anyone wants my help, you can find me here. First table at the Reference Section.

In the meantime, does anyone want to engage in a friendly match of Wizard's Chess?

THIRD PERSON:For the time that Mami Tomoe was a magical girl, Witches were her enemies. Born of curses, they sought to spread seeds of disaster across the world, and it was her job as a Puella Magi to get rid of them. It was her job to risk her very life every single day just to kill them. But now that she had been living in Hogwarts, there was one important thing that Mami found out -- not all Witches were the same. After all, she herself was one now.

"Episkey!" She recited while waving her wand at a classmate's knee, successfully healing the painful cut. A soft smile played on Mami's features as the other girl squealed in delight. "Thank you, Mami!"

"It's my pleasure."

"I haven't ever heard of that spell before though. Where did you learn it?" The girl asked, looking up at Mami in genuine curiosity and admiration. Mami chuckled as she helped the girl to her feet, before she adjusted the books she was carrying with her. "I've been studying ahead."

Yes, Mami thought as she began to head to the Great Hall by herself, not all Witches were the same. Some Witches wanted nothing but to harm and destroy the lives of humanity, some Witches used their magic to delve into the Dark Arts, posing threat to Hogwarts the Wizarding World (and Mami swore she'd fight against them, swore as her responsibilities as both magical girl and a good Witch that she would protect the people against those kinds of Wizards and Witches), but some still, like most of the people she encountered in the castle, used their magic in peaceful ways, used their magic to fight against evil, to do good and protect those dear to them. These were the witches that Mami had no trouble being in harmony with, and even admiring to a degree. Because she had learned that Witches too had heart, and it all boiled down to what side you were on.

A smile was still playing on her lips as she entered the Great Hall, before she heard her name being called out by two very familiar voices, voices that belonged to the people she trusted the most. "I'm coming!"
