If he causes you so much tears and grief then no, you're not being unreasonable for wanting more. You're so young and you've got so much time to find someone who treats you exactly how you want/deserve to be treated. I think it's a trap that so many people get into of thinking they've just got too high expectations by wanting more, I know I did with my ex.
I know how hard it is to take such a huge jump and end a relationship with someone you love out of hope that you'll find something better, but I do think you're too young to settle for someone who makes you so unhappy.
I didn't mean it in a patronising way if that's how it came across. Just that you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet someone else in the future, who could make you happier than your current boyfriend seems to. If you were say 50 or something I'd think realistically it's gonna be hard to find "the one", but you've got your whole life ahead of you. No point settling for something if you want more than that.
All I know is I've read your livejournal and it seems like ever since your first post saying you were dating him every other one has been about how much grief he has caused you. That answer's in the question. But I'm no expert on relationships.
All I can say is, don't just follow your heart, follow your heart and your head.
