So I'm making a website for one of my friend's events. I think I will use godaddy as my service provider, unless someone suggest differently?

I have a domain registered through Godaddy that I haven't done anything with, and I think that may be where delphianseed.com is registered, but they don't host that site (do they host any?)

I would recommend wordpress for web building. That's about all I can say, I'm a n00b to this stuff myself. Best of luck!

I am not a fan of GoDaddy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_Daddy

They have donated money to opponents of net neutrality, shut down websites and domains over complaints without offering the owner much time to challenge or solve the problem, and they have fined their customers in the past without providing a clear way to challenge the reasons. (I also do not like the marketing techniques they have used in the past, and the company's owner is fairly socially conservative.)

Unfortunately, I haven't devoted much time to looking for decent, cheap alternatives.

Check out 1and1.com

Pretty good prices, slightly more expensive than godaddy but laid out much better. While they don't have excessive rave reviews, harris has been directing his clients towards them for years now. I just signed up with them, I'll let you know how it goes.

If you have the money, go for mediatemple.net. They are espensive though, $20 a month is their cheapest package.
