Few things in this world hurt more than unrequited affection. There's just something remarkably painful about being caught in the gaze of someone you care about and knowing that you can never have them. you will hold on to your feelings until one day you look at the person who you have loved and you will realize that they are not the person who you thought and you will realize that your love is not love, but thoughts and memories that you hold dear and dont want to give up.

people change, but memories don't. the present person may not be with whom one fell in love, but memories last a lifetime, and that is for whom one will always pine. feelings lose intensity, but never themselves.
