I think I'm going to leave my boyfriend. It's not even the distance that's the problem. Texting and skype and seeing each other once a month has been enough. He just isn't who I thought he was and I don't think I'll ever be happy in the long run ( Read more... )

Him being conservative to your liberal wouldn't concern me too much, personally, because people can find their groove in their differences. The real problem about all this, which really has already been addressed in the comments above, is that it sounds like he doesn't even want to try to understand who you are. That's pretty messed up. What's the point of being with someone if they don't care enough about you to at least give your opinions a chance?

I still don't understand how anyone in the year 2010, in the U.S., can have issues with gay people.

I agree, it baffles me. I've dated other people who were pretty conservative and it was never really the issue. We finally talked, like really talked. And I told him everything that I was feeling. He never really apologized but said he'd work on it. I guess we'll see how it goes. If nothing changes I don't think I have any other choice.
