She wanted to deny it. She really, really wanted to deny it. But denying it would be the same as lying about it, and she had no plans to lie about something like this

Jack never got into the habit of rising early, but there had been a lot of slamming doors and running earlier in the morning, and no matter what he did, he couldn't fall asleep again.
He could always nap a little later, but for now, he'd blearily straightened down his nightgown (yes, a nightgown, because who really cared about what he wore to bed?) and tottered his way down into the lavatory.
...
Which looked like it had just been used, so Jack decided to go wash his face in the kitchen instead. What he didn't expect was that someone was actually up at this hour. "Ah...? Pardon...me?"
.. That voice sounded familiar. Sort of. Less enthusiastic and gushing than last time. The kind of voice Jackie might have had if she'd been born a man. So-- another male version of her.
Unfolding her hands from around her cup, she finally glanced up at the man, pushing hair back from her face and arching both brows in slight bemusement. Was he wearing a nightgown? She'd thought only her father and other men his age wore things like that. .. But then again, if she and Jack were as alike as people hinted, then perhaps it was just another of his quirks.
".. You're not the same Jack I met before, are you?"
There had been many ways to approach the situation, he'd think in retrospect. Standing there, stunned into silence at the sight of a very female double of him sitting at the table, was probably not the best way out of them.
He stared. Clung to the doorframe and stared and what on earth was happening? There had been a female version of Gilbert, but seeing one of him -
"I'll take that as a 'no'," she decided dryly, amused despite herself at his gaping. "If you don't close your mouth, you'll catch flies," she added in a quiet laugh, pointing to a chair on the other side of the table. "Stop hanging about the doorway and sit down, Jack. In case you didn't realize, I'm not going to eat you."
She'd thankfully been told almost upon arrival that she had doubles here-- and that they were all male-- so she'd had some time to get used to the idea before meeting Jack for the first time. And now that she had one of them under her belt, the second (this one) was less shocking than the first.
Not so for him, so it seemed. It was sort of cute-- she didn't make a bad boy, it seemed.
"They did warn you that there would be copies of you here, didn't they?"

Oh. She was talking.
"Ah...?" He answered eloquently.
