So the game's out.

But this isn't really a spoiler. Just that I read an article that claims that the crew working on Lightning returns just never saw anything 'heroic' in Hope like they did in Lightning or Noel.

Excuse me? Noel? NOEL!? .... Does anyone want to hear my rant about how between Noel and Sarah they screwed up everything?! (Grumbles)

My husband just got done playing XIII-2 the other night. Gotta say I am not sure what they were trying to do with that game. But you are right, I am not sure where they would get that about Noel. Serah, sure, despite the fact that I think they couldn't figure out what they were doing with her personality the entire time. But Noel was a pretty stagnant character...

Even as bad as XIII-2 was for me, I would have thought they way they portrayed Hope WAS pretty heroic. He was doing all he could for everyone in his own way when he was old enough to do that. So that's pretty strange to hear for sure!

The plot of XIII-2 Goes like this... pearlblade November 26 2013, 02:00:08 UTC
First original Yuel sees the future where Lightning and Co defeat Orphan with Ragnarok freezing into crystal to save Cocoon. Everyone is frozen in Crystal but the world is saved YAY!

Then Etro changed their fate and freed them.

THIS becomes the reoccurring theme the Original Yuel sees a change in the future and her life span is shorten so she dies sooner. Caius deals with it.

Then Etro brings Lightning to her temple... Now the world was going to end anyway EVERYTHING dies nothing is truly immortal. So Everytime Sarah and Noel change the future, they change the prediction of the corresponding Yuel that saw it and shorten her life. So now instead of a future where everyone just 'dies' there's a chance to be 'saved' by Bea.. Be... The God of Light. However that meant killing all those Yuels and making Caius a crazy world ending sadist..... Yeah I think I get why they think Hope isn't Heroic. They're freaking IDIOTS.

EXACTLY. How can they not see that doing what Hope does takes so much more courage than anything Noel and Serah have to do in FFXIII-2!? Hope has to work with practically no proof that what he's doing will actually make a difference (until Noel and Serah show up at random moments in their time-spelunking journey), no proof he's working in the right direction (again, until Noel and Serah show up), and has to deal with the stress of waking up in a TOTALLY NEW ENVIRONMENT every hundred years or so just to make sure everything's progressing all right. SHEESH, producers. REALLY.

*storms off in a huff*

Because brave people run away from day to day responsibilities to chase after something.

Sorry? Nothing Heroic about Hope!? OK, I have to say I haven't been playing FF13-2 but i have been following closely the cut scenes and spoilers for FF13-2 and LRFF, so I just want to say Hope is possibly one of the characters who coped with all the s*** going on with his life in the most sensible, efficient, productive and graceful manner. Maybe for them heroic is seeing who is running in the front line fighting monsters and stuff (but actually not really achieving anything) but for me, Hope had been working REALLY hard off screen. He's the modest hero I guess and unfortunately because of how modest he is, not all people will notice how "heroic" he is...

Not to mention that he's been abandoned by EVERYONE. His father died, Lightning is lost in time, Snow went looking for Lightning and hasn't been heard from, Sazh and his son are lost in time as well, Fang and Vanille are Crystal, and Sarah is off on a grand adventure. He's been abandoned to handle the responsibility to oversee the WHOLE HUMAN RACE by himself with support of only people who in time probably don't even know his name. He's probably just 'Director' he fully has every right to break down and start crying or screaming and he doesn't. He just 'deals' with it. I wouldn't be shocked if his lack of emotions in this game is the response to the fact that he was probably having a break down.

But he's not 'heroic'.....

Yeah, so basically he's left with all the dirty, difficult and boring work, whilst the others are going off and having fun lol. Although there are so many haters for Hope and they think he's gay, I really think he's one of the manliest character you can get. His character developed, he grew up, he coped with all these things without crying and breaking down and giving up on himself (On screen) and still is forward looking, what else can you expect?

Wow I'm so done. Just because Hope never got any screentime to show his heroic deeds doesn't mean that they weren't done. Just no to Noel.
