The weather has been a bit like that here in the States, as well.
As for the issue of not being able to write anything original... That is my dilemma as well. I think the last time I wrote anything original, it was part of a school assignment. X.x
I wonder why it happens like that -- the problem with writing. I think it has something to do with, um, getting feedback? Maybe with just having more ideas for stuff like pre-established things.
And it is difficult to stumble upon original ideas nowadays.
I think my writing style has changed markedly since then also. Now, I might write short stories/ flash fiction, or possibly try my hand at a memoir, but I don't think I can do epic series type of writing.
I had an idea for a romance novel, of all things, once. But that was just strange and required much research to actually write, and due to this, postgraduate studies, and other reasons, I just let it be.
Feedback might have something to do with it too. I remember the creative writing workshop classes I took to be very enlightening. With fanfiction there's a built-in audience, so I think you're more likely to get some feedback than none at all, but...
There's still a market for short stories, to be fair -- you could be in luck, there. Doesn't have to be epic.
You should try it again. I've been upping and downing trying to find something to write; the only problem is that everything's been raked over the coals so often that it requires thinking about long and hard before you actually start writing.
Maybe that's another issue, too. The feedback, the comments.
