Im coming back to LJ after a bit of an absence, and one of the things that I learned is that sometimes, things are better kept private. So this time around, im doing the smart thing and keeping it friends only. Heres most of what interests me-

How you like being a Mason? I had a friend who belonged to Job's Daughters and is in Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She tried to get me to join, but oddly enough no Masons in my family... I know, it's so odd.

I very much enjoy it. I think that a lot of personal enlightenment can come from it, and there are a lot of untold good deeds done by Masons around the world. True, there are some drawbacks (The "Old boys club" attitude sometimes irritates me) but I believe the benefits far outweigh it

I do, however, disagree with the requirement for ladies in the Eastern Star to have a direct relative who is a Mason. I understand the reasoning behind it, but I think they are missing out on a pool of good people who could be of great benefit to the OES and the organization as a whole. But unfortunately, change is very hard.
