Debate club, interesting....... You should slap Ian in the face for being so stupid! The roman catholic church came to be around a.d 300! Please slap him for being so dumb, and give him another slap for his goofy religious beliefs!

P.S- somebody kill Bush..........I'm tired of having a monkey run our country....Green party all the way!

"He also says that the roman catholics came before jesus christ did."

Okay, you should give the poor guy credit for this insight. I mean, after two thousand years of translating and editing the Bible into unintelligible garbage and turning their backs to Apocryphal literature, they have spawned the so-called "Jesus" we know today. It really took the Roman Catholics to create a Jesus that can justify misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia, and environmental destruction.

Okay, relax--I was exaggerating. However, the Bible is spotted with misleading translations, some of which are the inevitable consequences of translation (since any "equivalents" we use in translating are ultimately deliberate and merely approximate the meaning of the original word or phrase). Others, though, seem to be intentional: For example, where Jesus refers to himself as "the son of God," a more accurate translation would be "a child of God." The latter implies that his divinity is not unique and doesn't support the idea that he is the Messiah or the offspring of immaculate conception. That's just one example. For more examples, Stephen Mitchell's analyses of Genesis and the New Testament might be good places to start.

the bible isnt like an encylopedia. it isnt stating facts. its merely a book about stories. they teach traditions and morals. they werent meant to be taken seriously. hm um. jesus was a real person.. whether you believe he was the messiah.. or "child of god" and whatnot.. is up to whomever. but yes.

Yeah I saw it... Lots of information, the guy knew what he wanted but he was very vague. I think it would've been better if he used percentages instead of the actual numbers. A lot of it was really interesting to watch, but then I'm sure there's a shit load of unseen text, ya know?

It was almost like comercialism to me. Nothing against anyone, but I think it was pretty much just entertainment for people who want to be a part of something revolutionary.

mmmm... i beg to differ.
hes not forcing anything on anybody, i just think hes simply posing a question of why there are so many deaths caused by guns in america compared to other countries. hes not at all anti-gun (which i am just for the record, if you couldnt already tell) hes a card carrying member of the nra, therefore hes not preaching to anybody, hes just wondering something and figured he should back up his question with some examples of the united states.
