how, why, did i overlook this exquisite post till now, eight months under the bridge? i wanted to glide my eyes over nothing else afterwards, so i consumed it again, word by glistening word.

& i learned something new for this day that the lord has made: wherefore juxtamedullary.

i almost want to go into med school now. if they had language courses on the etymology of the body, i would so be there, with hundreds of little sticker labels to fill out and attach to my parts. i'd look like some escapee from peter greenaway's clinically artistic mind.

on the last line: pity the living bird who is not its labeled bones.
