Your post confuse me a lot.

I only just read the link you posted and other than that I don't have any knowledge on the matter, so maybe I misunderstood, but I don't think she said he "deserves to be abused based on the color of his skin". Not at all. In fact, the way I see it, she is saying that it is wrong to shout racial abuse, and that it is in fact not the reason why he is getting abuse. He is getting abuse for being petulant and a diver, etc. The racism card SHOULDN'T be used, that's just stupid! If he is acting like a shit then he'll be treated like one. It's got nothing to do with skin colour.

I guess for me, I've seen the racism almost all the time so it is easier to understand what is going on. But for me, the only reason they are shouting racist abuse is that he's been acting like a shit. Juve fans said he'd be getting the same abuse if he was white, but why say that at all? He's acting no different the players who are white and yet no one is yelling 'monkey' at them. To me, it's as if she is saying it's okay to bash him, but then that's why there are racist remarks in the first place.

It's hard to explain when everything. I know the article is saying racism is wrong but Mario's attitude is shit because of the racism. Yes he's been petulant before but when Juve fans shouted along the lines of 'if you jump balotelli dies" granted these reports could be false but the fact is, while Mario has been a shit at times, he does NOT deserve racist abuse for it.

It sounds to me that you and the article writer agree then?

He doesn't deserve racist abuse but you can't blame the fans for giving him some abuse . If the abuse is racist, then it's a different matter. (If people shout "monkey" or other things that clearly is said towards his skin colour/race, then that is racist!) But you can't blame the fans for shouting things at someone who acts like a brat (or whatever ( ... )

But all the abuse he's received has been racial abuse but then blamed on his attitude. So instead of the writer saying it all needs to stop, she is saying, "oh it's fine, except the racist part," which yes, yelling that he's cocky is fine, but yelling he's a "nigger" but saying it's because of his attitude isn't.

That's what is going on right now. It's not abuse based on his attitude like the writer and Juve fans want us to think, but it's racist abuse concealed behind it.

I am against racism and it is so blatant right now. I don't want to pull the racism card but I am not. I have heard the chants, read the reports, and when Juve's coach and stadium announcer ask them to stop, it's kind of bad and clearly something that isn't just based on his attitude.

That's why this article upsets me. I don't like Mario's attitude at times either but does that means he deserves death threats based on his skin color? Never. It's not even in football but racism in every day life. I can't understand it and it just pisses me off. I hate that people try to cover it up too.

I would like to think that someday, my future generations will know what it is like not to have racism in their life.

i've never really been interested in italian football (after wc06 & champion's league 07). when i read the article i didn't get any racist vibes at all. the woman who wrote it was more angry about the player's actions (diving and just generally being annoying) and it had nothing to do with his skin. she even said it was wrong to be racist. so i don't really think she's being racist at all. i mean, people slagged henry off for the hand ball, but no one said it was racist. what he did was still wrong, though. there are some things that footballers do that are wrong, and people will call them out on it, no matter what their race is. so i think it's being a bit hypocritical to immediately jump to the conclusion that the woman who wrote the article was racist.

The thing is, she is saying that it is okay to abuse him anyways. Yeah okay it's one thing to yell at a player because he is being an ass but it is another to use that as an excuse while one is being racist. All the chants directed at Mario are racially motivated ie: death threats or that an Italian can't be black. It has nothing to do with his attitude. Yes his attitude sucks and while most of it is because he's young and doesn't listen, a lot of it is because he's been cornered in the street and had bananas thrown at him ( ... )

i remember a time when i was really pissed about all the people bashing rafa and whatever, and maybe it's not exactly the same situation, but it's never going to stop. there are always going to be ~haters, and i know it's cynical, but i don't think racism is ever going to stop, either. i wish i could say what to do about stupid people who post their racist/discriminatory opinions online, but the thing is, it's the internet, and it's full of shit.
