RAEGY RAGING RANGERFAN

Okay, so year before last they got Elvis Andrus and bumped Michael Young over to Third. I was not cool with this at first, but he turned out to be a good kid and a great asset for the team. And Michael was doing all right at Third. Bit of a learning curve, yeah, but it's the hardest position to play. Still, learning curve or no, he was still doing a bang-up job. Shit, we won the ALCS. I was at the stadium when we beat the Yankees, I remember the team gathering on the field and everyone was saying, "if anybody deserves this moment it's Michael Young, for everything he's done for the team and as long as he's stuck with us." And I wholeheartedly agreed--as did the majority of truehearted fans at the time, I'm sure.

So why in the bloodyfucking HELL is Jon Daniels pulling this bench/trade shit out of his ass now?? Why is he pulling it out of his ass at ALL??

First, there was the whole replacing him with Adrian Beltre. (All due respect to Mr. Beltre, you're not that great a prize. You're an all-star, but so is Mike, and he, unlike you, has been with the team forever and is the engine powering the well-oiled machine we have worked so hard to become. You're great, but he's you're equal at least.) No real need for new blood--or to be more accurate, new old blood--just some asshat notion of our needing a big-name veteran presence now that Vlad's moved on. Seriously, Michael is our veteran presence. He's the "unquestioned leader" of the team, by everyone's account. Not cool.

Then there was the making him DH, which really happened around the same time if you want to get technical with it, but I count it a second strike because it's insult to injury. Any idiot knows DH status is the kiss of death for a player in his prime--which Michael is. DH is the step before retirement, once you're DH everyone figures you're done on the field. You don't make your All-Star team captain DH at the height of his career and act like this is just another adjustment to the lineup. Because you know it's not. Not cool.

Then Michael got sick of the bullshit, and asked for a trade.

And then we find out you were making moves to trade him even when you were telling him you'd work with him to get him on the field as much as possible in spite of it all. Insult to insult to injury. Nice one, Jon Daniels. Now he's really pissed, and so am I.
Not. Fucking. Cool.

This is not how you reward the guy who stuck with you when everyone else was jumping ship.
This is not how you reward the guy who has produced, consistently, ever since Day One.
This is not how you reward the guy who has never made waves no matter how many times you shortchanged him.
This is not how you reward a Ballplayer, someone with his respect and love for the game.
This is not how you reward the man WHOSE LEADERSHIP HOLDS THE GODDAM CLUB TOGETHER IN THE FIRST PLACE!

This is just... such an unbelievable epic cock-up. It's all kinds of wrong. And it makes me even more pissed that Josh Lewin isn't coming back either. Which I really don't need. Because that made me upset enough as it was, without this downright criminal treatment of Michael Young by the Rangers organization. (Seriously, who can even imagine a Ranger win that isn't capped with Josh hollering "BALLGAME!"? I can't. I honestly can't.)

And to top it off, I just came off of a frankly alarming meeting in which I was informed that if I don't average a hundred an hour they'll cut me down to what I started at HG with 4.5 years ago.

So now I'm pissed about work, I'm pissed about Michael, and I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight with my blood pressure up as high as this shit's gotten it.
